I just scored a Yama cold brew that has a ceramic permanent filter.  I've had great success with a coarse-drip on a 24hr brew cycle, but maybe, there are other suggestions?  The filter, if you will, is like a disc shaped pumice stone.  Any thoughts?

Would it be compatible with the popular Toddy Cold Brew system? I think the cotton filter for those brewers are only 2 inches in diameter.

It sounds verrrrrrry nice!
Thanks for the reply! It's, actually, the 25 cup deal. http://www.northwestglass.com/cold-brew-coffee-maker-p-396.html and it takes 24 hours! The water to ice ratio, it says, should be 50/50, it would brew at >70F in sunny San Diego, otherwise.

I don't always trust the Yama; you can fill the water to 5cups, brew it, and end up with 4 - 4.5 even with the siphon. However, if your setup is small enough to stick in the fridge, personally, I'd ditch the ice and do that - I need the ice cos there's no fridge to accommodate the 25 cup.

Ice or no ice, fridge or not, you'll always want to make sure you enjoy it from a Batman mug!

24 hours? Do you have the 8 cup? I have the 8 cup and it takes about 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours. Just keep the filter clean- after every few times I've been puro-caffing mine. Always wash out the whole thing before and after. My problems have been with water/ice ratio, I can't figure out how much to put in so that I don't have to refill it later. Super great cold press though- I've been experimenting with single origins and coming up with some awesome stuff.
Thanks for the input!!! I'm finding that something finer than a Toddy Grind seems to work -- like the standard Paper Filter grind. Regardless of the grind I've used, it produces a great cup of cold brew! I brewed a Brazil the other day and it tasted like bananas!
