Hi, Sue! "Break the bank" is a little different for everyone.  Is there a budget you're trying to stay within?  Will you need a grinder, as well, or do you already have a good grinder?

Hi Sue.... My opinion is that it is more about the grinder. Make sure you get a good burr grinder. So much about getting good espresso shots is about having a good grinder.

Have a look at Rocket espresso machine - Giotto evoluzione v2. Its good and reliable for home use,

Giotto is a great option but it will cost more than 2000 bucks, if that is not your budget, do think about Breville 920XL. It's a great machine with dual boiler...
