New high end Santa Monica coffee shop seeks lead barista. Supervisor/management experience required, we are looking for team leaders! This is a new café that aims to be recognized within the coffee community as a role model for other cafes. We want your input and expertise in making this happen and to take pride in the café. Looking for someone interested in a management, leadership role, and most importantly PASSIONATE about coffee. This is a unique opportunity to put your cafe knowledge to use in the building phase of a very exciting project.
Applicants should have a flexible schedule and be available to work at least 3-5 shifts a week (possibly including weekends), 20-35+ hrs/week.
Barista responsibilities include:
- Engaging customers and creating an exceptional experience
- Assist in the training and development of employees
- Taking orders and ringing up sales, maintain proper cash handling
- Preparing and servings coffee and other drinks
- Preparing and serving simple snacks
- Developing barista skills and helping train new hires
- Maintaining the store environment and equipment, keeping café area clean and organized
- Re-stocking inventory and communicating store needs
- Ensuring food safety standards are met
- Recommending product and process improvements
- Educate customers and staff on types of coffee, teas and espressos carried
- Inventory management
- Latte Art
Lead Baristas/Shift Managers are also responsible for:
- Directing and monitoring staff
- Coaching barista skill development
- Providing hiring and performance feedback
- Resolving unmet customer concerns
- Managing inventory/ordering levels
- Shift logistics, documentation and communication
Qualifications
- At least 2 years barista experience w/ high end espresso machines
- California Food Handler's card
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with café pos systems
- Friendly positive attitude
- Major plus if you have competed in Barista competitions
