Seattle, WA

4 years
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I am a Barista Exchange Moderator and I spend most of my non-work time (and some of my work-time) jumping around way too many forums on the web....
But that's okay.
Check out our Acceptable Use Policy & Content Moderation.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
I'm in Seattle and would love to jump around to other coffee shops and just be a guest barista there to get a hands-on education on varying techniques and theories. Let me know if you're interested. I also will be traveling through Northern California a lot, and would love to jump on a bar around there too.
About Me:
I would like to compete somewhere down the road...hopefully a short road.

My first trainer job was at Trabant Coffee and Chai in Seattle, WA where immediately excited about being involved in the possibility of introducing the passion for coffee to someone. Great times at Trabant.
I am sponsored by Visions Espresso. I want to thank Visions for all of their support of my coffee adventures. Thanks again, guys!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Baristas are always willing to educate and help each other. This site is a great example

good luck with your training, i wish the best results in competitions.
  • Jason Haeger

Yeah, I'm definitely going next year. If things go well, I'll compete.

    Do you have a blog?
  • Tom Steffens

not much goin' on here fellow Baristo. ;)

just kickin' it at Collins Pub, havin' a nice stout that I can't even see through and munchin' on some Freedom Fries (can you tell that I enjoy semantics?)

let us know how Minnesota is treating you guys!

    Peace
  • Tom Steffens

    that's awesome to hear!

um... not to be a sexist - but were they of the female gender by chance???
  • Tom Steffens

I was @ T2 - well... still am, but heading to Collins Pub to get my beer on...
and type an email or two...

    did I mention beer?

I have tomorrow off from Trabant... but might have to work Metro, we'll see - the new girl needs a shift covered... sigh. I swear I pick up more slack than Danny DeVito's tailor...

that joke makes sense to probably just me.
  • brett hanson

Hey Alex- when's your next shift at t2? I'd love to get the lowdown on your coffeeing. Cheers
  • 5.0 Reasons

word up pimp...good to see you trottin' around. When I first saw you at the party I wasn't sure if it was actually you or an imposter. Tell the Trabant folks I said what up. I'm gonna send some thangs to you cats.
  • brett hanson

Sorry- crazy day. How about next week?
  • brett hanson

no shifts during the week? sat may work out, but maybe not- u district street fair is going to be blowing up on sat/sun.
  • Joe Stormer

What makes you think that I don't like Kenyas? Or are you associating all Kenyas with key lime? If so, I challenge you to a knife fight. Don't be blasphemin'!
  • brett hanson

i'll try to cruise t1 in the evenings for you then.
  • Alexa Baehr

I don't understand this "Kenya" coffee.... It makes me angry..
  • Tony Serrano

    hi Alex.
  • Alexa Baehr

Do you have a passport?... I got ideas...
  • Alexa Baehr

It's time we go to Canada! Represent!
  • Jason Haeger

What can I say. Great minds think alike. ;)
  • Jason Haeger

I'm afraid I can't do much in the way of an exchange.

I don't work for a shop. I'm a free-lance consultant, trainer, blogger, reviewer, local events organizer/community builder, and bX admin.

As much as I would love to..

If you want to do a gig in Austin, talk to Caffé Medici. It's THE shop in Austin, and they have a new location opening in 2 days that gets over 100 pedestrians in front of it every 2 hours. It's insane.

    2 FB80's in that one.
  • tish

Welcome to seattle... I stopped in trabant the other day and had a lovely espresso, it made my day.
  • Alexa Baehr

Dialing in the Chicaloma as I type... Yum!
  • Aaron Reeves

so far, just friday, sunday, and monday evenings. I'm hoping to pick up a couple more, but my regular schedule probably won't change much.
  • Peter Middlecamp

For future reference- where should I send samples of my soon-to-be roasting commercially super double extra awesome (after much testing) espresso?
    How are things in Seattle?
  • Peter Middlecamp

Too many cuppings, sorry, I'm a little... caffeinated.
  • Alexa Baehr

Me you and Matt go to Canada, what do you say?.... It has to be on a Monday or Tuesday, so we can see the roasting and wreak havoc. You in?... Maybe one more barista...
  • Peter Middlecamp

Hmm. Exchange you say? We are getting a clover tomorrow, and an M3 as soon as its built, and the Diedrich June 30. So much happening here... Need.. more... Baristas!
  • Benza Lance

    Hey dude,
Gotta love the 'tat, baby! As far as guest barista-ing goes, you'd have to talk to the Big Kat about that, but if its around the time that we're opening the second location... then possible. I can hook you up with his email if you want.
    love
    ben
  • Aaron Reeves

Yah, the tamp at work pretty much blows, or so I've been told. I want a nice one, with a thinner base and (surprise) a bright green handle. But two things:

    1. I'm completely and devastatingly broke.

    2. If I rolled into work with my own tamp I would look like a total asshole. Especially if it was accompanied by a set of smaller pitchers, which, even before Jeff stated so, I realized we desperately need.
  • Aaron Reeves

I know. I've been working so many evenings: friday–monday, with other shifts thrown in occasionally.

By the way, Sarah's mom really loved the coffee they bought her.
  • Andy Newbom

    howdy boy wonder man dude!
  • Andy Newbom

tell those pesky trabantians to fall off the wagon and get a snooker of the tasty stuff!
  • Andy Newbom

we are so up and down with it. like a zigzag. Boss is pulling super thick. Sweetness is the new Kneebuckler that you want to try. can't wait to spread the sweet coffee love.
  • Andy Newbom

give Stephen a call menana and get some of the Boss flowing your way.

Hows the city treating you? Hows the weather?
  • Jason Haeger

Hey Alex. I've been busy too! Life happens sometimes, I suppose.

I heard the Trabant crew made a trip to Vancouver not too long ago.

    Did you go?
  • Andy Newbom

done dude. we will put you to work slaving away like mad.
  • Jess

Yeah, still plans to do the whole coffee thing, it's just about finding the right coffee house. I am sort of bitter by the whole incident at my previous job.
