Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
Dragonfly Cafe will be 2 years old in January! It has been a wonderful, exciting journey so far. We've been well recieved in our community, and with the expansion of our evening hours have started to enjoy some great music along with our awesome coffee and food.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
There is nowhere I wouldn't go
About Me:
I have the best job in the world. I love being part of an industry that supports each other and continues to grow and evolve. I have a lot to learn, and love hearing what others are doing in their cafes. I would love to open a couple more Dragonfly Cafes in Northeast PA in the future...
About My Company:
Dragonfly Cafe is a new cafe located in Hazleton PA.I am proud to be bringing something like this to our town, and it seems to be well recieved.I've attended ABC school of course, and learned so much there. Bellisimo has been with us from the start.I love creating new espresso drinks and playing with milk.People love our lunches. We keep it simple and fresh.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
everybody's excited about what they're doing...find me another profession where that is true!
hey Peg:
Awesome , I hope you do great in ur coffee shop, one day at a time indeed. let me know if you ever want to visit our plantations in Guatemala. Hope you can read my latest blog.
Im glad you liked the article. I guess you were able to travel there somehow, that is awesome, I love writing as well, but hey thanks again. Hope we can keep in touch, best regards
Happy New Year Peg...
Congratulations on getting your shop up and running too. Intelli is a great choice too as is training with Bruce and Matt and Jared-I'm sure you will blow the doors off what everyone else is doing there and set new stansards for quality in PA.
Cheers!
I got nothing to do tomorrow. I was thinking of throwing my bike in my car and driving up to visit your shop. Maybe get some time in on your machine, hang out, and make a day of it. Let me know if your up for it.
That should probably work out fine. What time will you be in Philly? I live at 9th and Catharine right next to the italian market. if your interested in going to a shop around here give me a call. My number is 302 545-5248.
Hey Peg, thanks for reaching out.
I'll be driving up there soon to check your place out!
It seems we have some similar background- I'm a ABCs grad, as well.
I love the Black Cat! Intelli knows 'spo!
After I left running The Bean'ry in Athens, I moved to NC where my wife lived. I eventually took a job with Krispy Kreme Coffee as an Assistant Roastmaster, and learned about coffee from that side. After being laid off there, I moved to Charlotte, in Caribou's management training program to become a manager with them. (As much as I didn't want to really, it was just all there was around here.) After waiting there, I got tired of waiting and knew I deserved much more because of my experience, so I sent out some resumes, and here I am at my job now. It's great because I get to use all the things I have learned over the years at one time. A full 360 degree view of what it takes to be successful. Glad you have had fun! Can't wait to hear the stories!
Peg; I'm very happy to hear that you have opened. The space looks fantastic from the image I saw on your page. To see what I've been up to look at my site. www.cafe-design.net I would love to use your layout and a photo or two on the site as well. You guys did a great job! Let me know If i can help you out, in any way.

Hiya Peg, Things are good here. Sorry for slow response. I've taken a break from working at the Phoebus Coffee House due my main job getting busy. I am an emergency planner for the Dept of Defense. I am going to go to the event in Charlotte in Nov. Maybe I'll see you there?

Hi Peg! I ran across a comment you made to a W. MI person and came to see your page. Beautiful store - congratulations! It seems like you're doing it right. My goal is to get away from office work and get back into coffee with a plan to own a store or maybe a cart at first. How long did it take you to get a handle on latte art? I've been practicing on my own and it's downright ugly at times! I'm also wondering what kind of lunches you do? Best wishes!
Thanks for the post Peg! It's inspiring every time I hear that someone is living their dream. Coffee has been mine for a long time now too, but I just haven't acted on it. I know I can make it work, it's just intimidating to begin sometimes. I'm a big believer in training too...going to my first barista jam this week in W. MI! Keep up the good work - it's independents like yours that keep raising the bar on coffee. Nice to meet you!
hey peg...thanks for the encouragement!! at this point i'm telling myself i just need to stay focused and take small steps everyday toward my goal. it's a challenge to do this mid-career, but i'm determined. the barista jam was amazing from the standpoint of both being able to practice and also test out different equipment. and meeting lots of other people in coffee. if you ever have a chance to do one, it's a great opportunity. i will definitely keep in touch...you too!
by the way, you have a great thing going with intelligentsia. i'm not exaggerating when i say that in all my coffee tasting, the most enjoyable latte i've ever tasted came from intelligentsia. they are awesome!
Hey Peg,
the space was an old restaurant that went out of business, took a lot of time but ended up with a really fun spot. I find it so helpful to keep in touch with fellow shop owners.....we feel the same pain:) take care
Hi Peg your shop looks great. Finished the ABC course a few weeks ago and my mind is spinning. I'm inspired by those of us who make it happen (one day soon I will include myself in that.) Your latte art is impressive.
Well done.
Nichola
It is so true, that IS why we get up at 5 in the morning. And as much as it is about the coffee, its always about the cutomers first...whatever weird thing they may want. I love this business.
