If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
maybe
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I love team work. I love times when it's crazy busy and I am making magic behind the bar with my co-worker and I also love lulls for some serious smack downs. I love learning. I am flexible and I think easily to communicate with. I feel comfortable sharing what I know and what I think. My cafe is pretty busy most of the time. I am a shift lead and really love working with different people and trying to balence where people want to be for a shift.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Everywhere. A country of origin is seriously over due but financially and time wise right now I think that visiting cafes and roasterys here in the states is more likely. I am doing a Midwest and East coast tour for spring break. I would love to spend some more time in Portland, Seattle and San Fran but anywhere as long as I have time to save for a ticket.
About Me:
Right now I am a full time student at The Evergreen State College taking a year long program on American History and Economics and absolutely love it. I am making a name for myself I think with all of the new people that I am meeting and would love to open a cafe eventually. I think that I would like to actually open a couple different kinds of cafes but I plan on finishing school first and continuing to meet rad people, make and drink coffee and cup as often as possible. I want to continue to expand my vocabulary and experiences. I love working in this industry. I am so moved by passion and can't wait to meet more passionate coffee dorks and professionals.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Sasha- hey, hey, hey. I miss you guys. Looks like we will have a couple of the Tazza D'Oro staff compete in the Mid-Atlantics at Coffee Fest in DC. Any advice?
I didn't work for Batdorf...the owners of Ancora spent some time with Larry and Sherrie back in 1992/3.
Actually, the first time I heard of Batdorf was at Javasti in the Greenlake/Northgate area...I've become more familiar with them in WI than in Seattle!
Whats goin on man? Hell yea for portafilter tats! I got it like a month or two before Coffee Fest Atlanta, I plannin on makin it a whole seed to cup half sleave. How long have you had yours?
Yay, portatatts! Mine was done about a month before SCAA Long Beach. I got it done by a great shop here in Kansas City called The Mercy Seat. Hella good guys and artists.
ahhh... miss you too! I really do miss the banter and great conversation - you bring great ideas to the job (and life)- and Voice mail! (I did get your message.)
Hey definitely hit me up as it gets closer (whats the date exactly?) I dont really know what Intellys feelings are about exchanges but we can almost certainly get you into the roastery to sit in on some cuppings and to play around in the lab. If you need a crash spot I might be able to hook that up as well. lemme know lady...
Thanks for the pat on the back man... It's fun right. 4:15am. Yeah lots of fun. We're about an hour outside of the city. Northwest Metra Line to Pingree Rd Station. Easy. When are you in Chicago?
Sorry I missed you...I was hoping we could hook up...but my Monday was all booked up. Owners just got back from Ethiopia/Rwanda, so we were pretty much getting caught up all day. Sally just brought me the coffee you left at King Street...thank you thank you! Dennis (our buyer) visited the same Finca (Siberia) that your El Salvador is from last month. It will be fun to cup those coffees out... We are making some decisions on Nics, Salvador and others so they will be a good challenge to what we've already cupped.
I hope you had a good time in Madison. When you get to New York, if you have time, check out (in Brooklyn) The Victory. A small shop, been in business for 13 years. Owners have a great focus on quality...
Track me down at SCAA and I'll also be in Seattle for my sisters wedding in late July. I'm sure you'll find me at Lighthouse while I'm there.
Hope all went well in NY. It was awsome havin you at the shop behind the bar and hangin out afterward. Sorry about that terrible experience at that shop after lunch, that sucked, I had no idea. Anyway, had a ton of fun, I'd love to do it again sometime.
Saaaaasha!!!
what a lovely photo! i had the pleasure of meeting michael elvin this weekend. hope things are going well for you all, and hope to see you in NYC soon!
Hey there--still trying to digest all of last weekend. Of the many highlights were meeting you and Michael. Bummer that we didn't get a chance to do anything outside of the USBC. The one downside would have to be getting sick, for which I owe you a debt of gratitude for your help the last few days. Sinus infection in case you were wondering--just wonderful that Minneapolis mold. Give me updates on New York.
So latte smackdown this week! You better not have anyone cover your shifts so we can actually work together! By the way what was with the weird energy in the coffee house yesterday?
Hey stranger, hope NY is going well. I just had a chance to skim your blog, hopefully later I'll get to peruse a bit more. Might be out your way this Fall. Keep in touch.

Anyway, it's great to be here, and I get sarcastic when I'm nervous. Hopefully no offense was taken.
