Hi Beth! Yes - we are in the same boat! Maybe we need to start a group for mid-life women coffee shop owners! I'll be in Seattle too for Coffee Fest - I've made a lot of my vendor selections, but still open for a few more! Good luck to you too!

I'm going with the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia. I used it at a shop I worked at, plus I was able to compare it against some others at the ABC school in Portland (where my pics are from). Its a great machine especially when you may not have a shop full of top notch/pro baristas. It is easy to use and ergonomic, and pulls a great shot. As far as the grinder, I will probably go with the Mazzer Jolly, but I could be convinced to look again at the MAHLKÖNIG® Grind-on-Demand Espresso Grinder...I played with an on-demand grinder in class too, and its intriguing - saves a lot on waste....

    Beth,

We use a variety of coffee roasters at my shop, Paradise Roasters among them. We work with Paradise because they buy some really top notch coffee, and Miguel is one of the best cuppers I know. I have been in coffee a long time, and everybody kind of knows everybody. I had tried their coffee long before I opened my shop. Shipping can sometimes be an issue, but at least for us, should something go wrong, we don't have all our eggs in one basket. Hope that helps.

Yes, we carry Ecco, and they are absolutely first rate! We work with a variety of roasters, but the ones we work with the most are Ecco, Paradise, and PT's coffee in Kansas City. We also carry Ritual Roasters, Barefoot, and Verve, all of whom are in California. Feel free to PM me or call if you have any questions. I sent you a PM with my info. Good luck!

Oh, Kerry would kill me if I forgot to mention Pacific Bay. We haven't carried very much from them, but they are good people.
