So when are you going to be in Atlanta? How long for? Do you have a place to stay? I'm pumped! Can't wait for your visit!
  • Anne MF Boatner

    yessss i am barista jamming!
  • Anne MF Boatner

I can't do three sentences of things I learned while barista jamming, but I can do three categories. Let's go:
beans- I learned some cool things about creating your perfect "recipe" for a good espresso extraction. I'm interested in using brew ratio instead of the usual "___grams/___ounces/___seconds" formula. Maybe it's because I like math. I am interested in playing with temperature and seeing how drastically that affects my pours.
sustainability- Peter G talked about how sustainability isn't just environmental; it encompasses culture and language and things like that too. I want to be able to share a story about every coffee we offer. I think that he act of storytelling to me is so much more valuable as far as cultural sustainability is concerned.
people- Coffee people are so incredibly supportive and loving and positive. I was sad to leave. The party was good, social time in between was good, meeting new people was fantastic, hanging out people I had met before was delightful. I am in love with the coffee community right now. Seriously.

Wanna compete out of region at the northeast? I'm planning on it. I would very much like the practice.
Also, when you come back let's do some glassware and chocolate shopping!
Have an incredible time driving all over the place. If you need help finding food or good things in the dirty south, give me a call.
