If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
Home Barista and every now and then I help an indie shop/roaster out.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Europe in general, but especially the UK. I would love to travel to origin countries. And Australia would be a fantastic trip as I have friends in Brisbane that I went to college with and haven't seen in years. I wouldn't mind going to New Zeland and Carl Sara better have time for me! ;)
About Me:
The Home Equipment: Faema S87 2 Group, Mazzer Mini, Kitchen Aid Pro Line Grinder (French press), EspressoCraft Tamper.
I am 35 years old and married to my wife Nikki. We have two children, Anna (6) and Emma (5). We live in Mount Olive, NC (Eastern NC).
About My Company:
Read my blog. Understand I have no patience with poor espresso practices. Understand that I am serious, dead serious, about quality coffee.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Nepal doesn't even show up in any International Coffee Organization records as a producing country... I think there coffee exports are too small. It's actually packed out of Nepal by Shirpas and shipped out of India.
We don't have it in right now. But it is a real nice treat...
What were you doing in the bustling Metropolis of Van Wert, Ohio my friend? That is about 30 minutes or so from Defiance. Stop by Cabin Fever anytime. I am usually at the downtown location. Give me a call when you are in the area.
Hey Wilson, thanks for the comment.Enjoy the journey of exploration. Be open to anything. Save more money than you think you'll need, and have a ball watching your vision come to life!
okay, so I can only say that NOW...not that I actually follow my own advice there. Just a hard learned lesson. But it all comes together no matter what, if you keep looking forward.
Hey Wilson,Good morning...
Are you in NC? I get down to the central part of the state a few times a year to visit my folks (Pinehurst) and my little brother (Charlotte). I'm making plans to come down for a Counter Culture tour (Durham). You should check out Counter Culture Coffee's training program... I think a lot of the cupping and roasting seminars are free.
My place is still on paper at the moment- I have a site that's currently under contract and the new owner (I'm one of several tenants in a large commercial building) has a bunch of initial renovation to do.
Still, a summer opening seems likely.
check out my website. If you and your wife get to Philly anytime, drop me a line so we can get a cup together and chat.
Best regards,
-Tim
Sounds great, Wilson.
I'm around this weekend, and I'd love to show you a couple great places for coffee and the like.
you can reach me at tdnoble@gmail.com, too.
thanks for the tip. ive been so frustrated lately i didnt even know where to start. let me know how your place in the making is going. id love to see how it turns out.
Hi Wilson, I happened apon your blog about 7 months or more ago and think your journey is a great one...I to am 34 and looking to pursue coffee where ever it go'z! The funs in the journey.
Oh man do I! But the pursuit of truly amazing espresso and coffee is worth every bit of the struggle! You made a comment in your last blog entry about not fitting in...I visit from time to time the intelligensia in silverlake here in california. Its amazing, but i am not the skinny, young, and hip barista but I sure love what they do and love the attention they give to quality. They constaintly raise the bar for my hopes and dreams.
I can do that! I don't don't think they are trying to promote that idea, it's only many in the older crowd give up or need to make more money. So they throw it in and get a desk job. Death of the barista.
hey! the uniforms are made by Diadora and we wanted to capture somthing different, so we embraced the "forza italia soccer team" still keeping the black and white. I compete at coffee fest last year in seattle with the sweatsuit on lol thinking im doing that again this year!
Wilson... so sorry, my computer got a virus yesterday at 1:00 p.m. and the computer tech has been working on it since then. I just now got into my e-mail at 5:30 p.m. i can't believe I missed your visit! I need just a little heads up next time. The girls said you took a few pictures... what do you think of the place?
Yeah, I'd like to think our coffee and espresso can hold their own. We do everything we can to make them the best we can... but I'm sure not talking it up too much after reading some of those blogs :).
I wouldn't say your blog was negative. In fact, I liked the way you called those guys out. If a business makes the investment to equip and advertise an espresso program like that, they should be called out if they aren't even attempting to deliver.
Please do stop in for a visit some time. We're just off the south-eastern portion of I-485 - so its an easy stop if you are passing through. Let me know when though so that I can be there (although Dad pulls solid shots too).
I haven't had any fresh coffee in a week and a half.
I am about to completely be depleted. I have run around to Crema Coffee Roasters and they were closed due to a family emergency. I tried to have a friend pick up beans at Crema in Greenville and he let me down! I really am getting desperate here.
Hi Wilson. Glad you were able to stop by the shop the other day, and glad you enjoyed it. Sorry to have missed you, both in Charlotte and in Atlanta. I hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed your travels.
Not yet sir. Though I did have an interview for a job I'm not really sure I want at this point. I have the weekend to decide if I want to call for a second interview. I'm hoping some other things yield fruit before I have to make the call.
No worries. When your charger decides to make it's way over give me a call. I'm going outside shortly to modify the mower with a heat gun. As an explanation as to why I might not hear the phone.
The chute has a funky design the in effect windrows the grass instead of throwing as far away from the mower as possible necessitating go over the yard multiple times even after only a week. Also makes taking care of leave in the fall a pain.

It was a life saver. And what a difference the grinder makes, eh? 13 lbs of coffee from the 22nd to the 25th. Not bad in a house! LOL!
