If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I was originally trained by a coffeehouse owner who went to the ABC school, and I've been learning even more ever since. I'm a rather wicked latte artist who constantly strives for perfection. I manage a small shop outside of Chicago called The Brothers K Coffeehouse. I truly enjoy helping other people grow in the art of crafting great coffee and espresso, the likes of which should make your toes curl after having imbibed.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Cities: any where in the US, preferably not too far from Chicago. Countries: Ethiopia, China, Japan, Italy. In that order, but I'd really go anywhere if I had the chance.
About Me:
I live coffee. I eat, sleep, drink, and breathe coffee. There are very few things that get me as hot under the collar as coffee does.
I really, really want to learn how to roast (well), and to hone my palate.
While I may not always seem as in love with the bean as I claim, believe me, I am; and that's all I'm gonna say about that.
I'm always looking for people who can teach me something/anything about coffee, and who want to bend the rules of coffee in order to create new and exciting paths of excellence.
I believe wholeheartedly in the coffee shop experience, and want to mold it into something that is ever changing, and which escapes cliche'. (Cliche' is the bane of my existence.)
About My Company:
When it comes to coffee, we don't mess around.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
All the crazy baristas who have an irrational passion for what we do.
ah, I dont believe you know me. so no apology required. right now I work I reside in Upstate NY at a place called Hudson Coffee Traders as a trainer. Moving to brooklyn to work at El Beit in a few weeks! Where do you work?
I dont need a plug in, I don't really see why you would. I just have my pictures saved to my computer and it works fine...if you can't do it that way, upload your pictures to photobucket and then copy and paste the html...let me know how it works out for you
Tom Michaels from Fu's Tattoos in Charlotte, NC. I just brought him the portifilter he took some pictures and the next weekend we picked which one we liked best and would like right for my not so large arms, and he just went at it from the picture. It took about two hours.
Thanks for showin love. And I will be practicing that swan pour on my next bar shift. VERY COOL SWAN! The design in the photo was introduced to me by Chris Deferio when I worked with him at Carriage House Cafe in Ithaca, NY. He called it the autumn leaf. I think the first time he showed me how to do it, I made him pour it three or four times in a row to get a good fix on it. Then I practiced forever. We worked together for a couple of years there. Chris is not only a great barista and trainer, he's also a great brother. I think the free-pour autumn leaf is on EXTREME LATTE ART (bellisimo) DVD also? Hopefully, I can come and visit your shop on a visit to Chicago sometime. PORTAFILTER TATTOOS...I WANT ONE. NEWS ON THE MARCH: Tattoo booth at next Coffeefest
I am shamed indeed....
Will be back in the area sometime in July and probably again in August so I will for sure come and see you then. I may even be looking for a couch to crash on for a night or two.....
The pleaseure was all mine! And thanks for the strawberries! :)
It's looking like I will be back to the neighborhood in the near future so I will give you a little warning next time.
Thanks, I will indeed be calling you to meet you at the fest, and I will make an effort to stop by your shop.
I do very much know Nicole. We offer several of their products, and as luck would have it, she lives near by so we are graced with her presence often. I believe she will be at coffee fest as well, maybe we should all go out if possible. Look forward to meeting you in a few weeks.
Oh my god we did the same thing as last year where I see you at the beginning of GLRBC, it's awesome, and then I totally never see you again. Congrats on Millrock placin'!
Congrats on the MILLROCK. It was good to see you kickin it live. The Villeians will find a reason to roadtrip it to your cafe. Meanwhile, keep rollin on the great shots and pours. And hope you get to climb a mountain soon.
