If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
My husband Tom and I opened Zia's - an Italian Caffe` and Gelato Bar in historic downtown Placerville, CA - off highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe. We serve amazing traditional Italian roasted coffee from Caffe` D'Arte, and make our own gelato on site - fresh daily. We are Italian to the core, and take pride in sourcing as much as we possibly can locally, from quality, artisan sources.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Italy primarily, but anywhere! My Dad's parents are from Marche (Ascoli Piceno) and Molise/Abruzzo (Isernia region).
About Me:
My Dad is of Italian heritage, and I lived in Italy from 1984 - 1988 (Vicenza nel Veneto). I speak/read/write Italian! I majored in music and love art too. I have always had a love for tradional Italian culture, including a love for food, wine, family, art and of course, traditional Italian espresso! I sing in an Italian folk singing group, and love jazz too!
About My Company:
Zia's is a traditional Italian Caffe` Bar, serving espresso drinks, gelato, beer/wine and spuntini (snacks!). We are also on Facebook and Myspace! Check out our yelp reviews too!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
Hi Shari,

Shari! It was a pleasure meeting you as well. From all of the emails I've been receiving, it sounds like I missed out on the fun stuff. I can't wait to see the pictures from the Latte Art training.
I'll have to check out JavaJ too. Sounds like a unique cupping/tasting! I can't make it to the Ritual opening as I'll be out boating that weekend. I'm sure I'll be stopping by soon after though.
I'm from Fremont!! Lived there for 36 years.
I love your pictures! Looks like you're going to Seattle for Coffee Fest. I'll be there w/hubby and some co-workers.
My hubby and I were going to open a shop this past year, but decided to stay where I'm at. So, I'm super excited for you to have your own shop!!
Shari
Im a new barista, I work at Starbucks. I also new in barista exchange, i love coffee very much. If u have some knowledge that U want to share. Im willing to listen thx. I want to learn more about coffee, everything. Any suggest where can I get it?
Hi Shari:
Looks like we're in the same boat together. I'm a mid-lifer, too. My shop will hopefully open in late December/early January. I'll be in Seattle, too. And I'm bringing another female coffeeshop owner with me. Perhaps we need to start a subgroup of Women Owners of Coffeeshops. Heading to the show to make final vendor selections... finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Nice to know others are in the same boat!!!
I especially love www.espressovivace.com It is right down the way from Coffee Fest!

University Village would be a nice one to visit. Although the Greenlake store is where it all started!
Sheri - Good seeing you too. Nice to meet Tom. He seems like a great guy and totally supportive. I hope the new concept works out for you... I would totally drive to Placerville for decent gelato! :)
