coffee enthusiast, industry professional, consultant, supplier
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
San Francisco
How many years have you been in the industry?
14 years full-time; 18 years total, including part-time barista work
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I'm not a direct fit for a barista exchange as a green coffee importer/consultant, but I still keep up in the barista community as much as I can. I started as a barista in 1989, served on the SCAA Training Committee Espresso subcommittee for a number of years, and judge in barista competitions when possible.
I'm co-chair of the SCAA cupping subcommittee of the Training Committee currently and have volunteered on committees and boards throughout the years. I served as president at the international women's coffee alliance in 2007-2008.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
All over; I have been fortunate to go a lot of places so far.
About Me:
I love this industry like most of us in it and I donate a lot of time to it outside of my job requirements, volunteering for events, teaching, training, etc..
In my other life, I'm a stage actor, performing and producing with my non-profit Theatre Company, Triple Shot Productions, in San Francisco, California.
About My Company:
Atlantic Specialty Coffee
we are green importers, selling specialty green across the US.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
The people. It's an industry of very passionate people and I do everything I do with passion.
Wow! What a welcome. Thanks guys.
March is great for a visit! I might even have my studio back into some sort of shape if you want to stay here it's a private bed and bath and, hey, even floor. I skyped with your boyfriend yesterday. What a cutie.
good answer.
I guess it is tricky to answer this things, I know that alot of people is fan of the probat machine.
I have never roasted anything so far in my life, but I just bought the Iroast2 for home roasting.
I have a dream of working in a roastery once, to learn the trade :)
Nice to meet you, I`m an argentinean barista trying to promote specialty coffee in latin-america, and I would be very grateful if you could give your opinion (as you`re very experienced in the coffee business) regarding a new venture I`m working on. If possible, please let me know where I can send you an email.
You are too cool! Thank YOU for taking the time to work with us and lend your expertise.
I got to work on a Bourbon sampler at a restaurant in Boulder after the Comp....Bookers, Baker & a third B that I cannot remember (which of course was the best....damn memory).
see you in May, where I fully expect a night of sampling....
Ooppss...it was totally unplanned, I promise...just needed to imbibe, and the 3-B's sampler looked attractive....BTW, Andrew called the third B - Basil Hayden...the best of the 3 in my opinion....
OK..prepare for a 're-match' in Minn. If you are good, I will even try to bring some Zacapa from Guatemala! got to figure out how to get that on the plane....
