barista, coffee enthusiast, industry professional, consultant
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Minneapolis, MN
How many years have you been in the industry?
Lifelong passion, 7 years as a professional
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
no
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
My first real job in coffee was with a product/machine importer in Minneapolis as the office/sales assistant where I had the opportunity to do a little bit of everything from placing product and small wares orders to menu development and beverage training. I was able to help with every step of opening your own coffee shop under the mentorship of some amazing industry leaders.
I have also worked as a barista, manager, trainer and store opener with both indie and chain operations.
I currently work with roasters, importers, distributors, and chain accounts across North America.
I also serve on the SCAA which has been such an amazing and eye opening experience, I can not wait to learn more!!!!!
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Any
About Me:
I love coffee; the social issues it encompasses as a commodity, the personalities it attracts as an industry, the geographical scope of use, the history steeped in controversy and revolution, the exalting experience of a quality cup....
Oh, and long walks on the beach...
About My Company:
My company represents a range of specialty products to the beverage industry and helps manufacturers launch their concepts nationwide. We also consult on beverage solutions, industry trends, marketing and menu development.
Hey Nicole,
Kopplin's is also my favorite cafe. I am a home roaster and have only been doing it for about a year. I started with modified popcorn poppers, until my roommate got a hot top. We are currently doing research on roasting through the University of Minnesota Duluth. You can check out our evolving progress at www.overthetopcoffee.com. What is your position at allied resources?
oh yeah, of course.....
I'm not allowed to be with synesso by myself during work hours.... if you know what I mean *wink wink*........
aaaaaand, yes, tuesday or thursday nights are best for visiting hours...
tuesday nights mostly, just because its ladies night.........
and by ladies night, I mean andrea, sally and myself have worked that shift almost every tuesday for months and we used to be the only girls at the shop.................
No competition this time...I want to be fully prepared. I spent most of the time watching the super competitors and playing on every machine that I could my hands on.
It was too short of a time, but I got some invaluable information from Scott Rao. He's a cool cat.
Also, the espresso at Kopplin's was life changing.
Very special to see u too - but you know that- wish i did not have to speak the next a.m. as Henery's party was THE party of the show for sure...
Have to say the early morning on Lake howeveruspellit - Tom's lake - was magical with the red wing black birds atop the reeds... wow! Hey our boat caught and released 52 and I brought home a fish trophy now in our conference room. Next closest boats were 12 - 4 and Tom's boat @ 2! Lucky to be in Andrew's boat for sure - Fun MN. time. Stay in touch ms N. ciao
Nicole! It has been way to long since we have chatted. How are you? I know I ask that question all of the time but we dont keep good enough contact! ha ha.. So I start at Vita on Tuesday. My life is going to start. I am soo stoked to start my Career back in the Coffee Indsutry. You will need to keep in touch and let me know when your back in the Seattle area. Drinks? Dinner? Unless your too cool traveling around the city with skateboarders! ha ha.
Damn you for not stopping by my shop when you were in Chicago!! I wanted to be rated by someone who really gets around in the coffee world. Instead you have to be all busy and shit. Unfriggin'believable!!
I'll be here most of July, except for the 2nd-5th.
I'd be more than happy to offer you a couch to crash on, but unfortunately it's not mine to offer, and I live a ways outside of the city. You could try Cory Cunningham, he's a pretty cool cat who might be able to hook you up.
Hey!! I'm stoked that you came to visit us!! It was a pleasant surprise. Hopefully Nathan put his soul into the drinks he served you. Knowing him, I'm sure he did a great job. He's the shit.
Maybe next time I'll have the pleasure of showcasing my soul in the form of an espresso beverage.
I made you a traditional cappuccino! Jonathan told me you're coming back to town. If you know of any good coffee places in the area, let me know, I've been looking for some.
If you stop in Saturday or Sunday before 4 I'll be working. If you stop in on Sunday, Jonathan will be working as well. What are your favorite shops in the Twin Cities? I'm up there visiting family two or three times a year, and when I ask family members where I can pick up some good coffee they always point me towards a Caribou.
I'm callin' you Friday night. Saturday night I could go out, just not too late, and Sunday would be even better. Oh, also, Nathan's coming with. I think you met him when you stopped by our shop. He's a cool cat. Cheers till then.
I just saw the oh-so-flattering pictures of myself learning some mad skills from the tie tying professional. I'm shocked that I don't look as drunk as I was that night.
Yo, been hooking up with some new friends on the exchange, looks like a lot of them know you as well! I want to come hang in your booth at coffee fest so please make some room for me. I think you products will be a huge hit!!!
Nicole!! I saw Ira at the Violet Hour last night. I was drunk. It was great though. Also, thanks for hanging last time you were in town. Time spent with you is always well worth it.
