    About Me:

I was a Medical Technologist from New Jersey for 20 years. My husband, Rusty, came to Hawaii in 1999 to start our coffee farm after he took an early retirement package from his company in 1998. Before my husband's death in Aug.1, 2006 he told me to sell the farm. According to him, it will be too much for me. Thank goodness for my stubborn streak, I didn't listen to him. I continued the farm and it was the one that kept me sane and it became my anchor. Now I am a full time grower, processor, roaster and marketer and enjoying every aspect of it. I intend to keep my husbands legacy alive.

    About My Company:

The name of our company is RUSTY'S HAWAIIAN 100% KA'U COFFEE. It is a 12 acre single origin coffee farm. It is located in the Eastern slopes of Moanalua, the biggest mountain in the world. It is at 2,000 ft. elevation. It ranked one of the top 10 in Asia/Pacific region at the SCAA competition in 2007. Our coffee is being served by Chef Alan Wong, one of the top Chefs of Hawaii in his flagship restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii.

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

Doing different coffee processing experiments. Example: first ever "sea water" fermentation; cola fermentation; chilli pepper fermentation; kenya style fermentation; pineapple fermentation; pulp natural; natural dried; from 8hr fermentation up to 24 hr. fermentation to see how long the fermentation can go before it goes over the edge.
