Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.

I had spent about a year or so working for fast food coffee before I started working at my current shop, Steeltown Coffee and Tea in Pittsburg, CA. I started to become passionate about coffee during this time, unfortunately fast food coffee is terrible. Thus I didn't fully fall in love with it until I had a hand dosed and tamped shot run through a real espresso machine (we use a Synesso Cyncra). Ever since then I've known the only career I could be happy with is one in coffee.

What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?

I need to plan a pilgrimage to Italy. But closer goals would include Oregon and Washington.

About Me:

I'm 21 years old. I live in northern California. I enjoy reading, making/listening to music, cycling, and immersing myself in nature.

About My Company:

Steeltown Coffee and Tea has been open since September of 2009. It's the only traditional espresso bar in the county. We have Mazzer espresso grinders. We dose and hand tamp, then run it through our Synesso. Our house coffee is always french pressed. And we get our beans from Four Barrel Coffee in San Fransisco. We get our tea from Mighty Leaf and it is steeped in infuser mugs.

What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?

The sense of community it creates. Coffee brings people together into a comfortable social environment. That, with the added stimulus of caffeine, sparks fantastic conversation.
