About Me:
My name is Jason Dominy. I live in Atlanta. I have been in coffee for more than 14 years. I have opened and ran two of my own coffeehouses. I also tried roasting, but wasn't that good. I worked for the 'Bou, Dilworth Coffee in Charlotte, and now call Batdorf & Bronson Coffee in Atlanta home. I train in espresso, and help people open coffeehouses and cafes. I also help with social marketing, and boosting coffee business. I am a member of the SCAA's Professional Development Committee/Espresso, and am also the current chair of the Barista Guild.
I also couple-skate with my loving wife of seven years from time to time. (But only on the slow songs, like Bryan Adams or Jon Secada.)
About My Company:
Batdorf & Bronson is old school in a good way, roasting excellent and amazing coffees for the past 24 years. They were one of the first to trade directly with farmers, building relationships, and investing in their lives. They are a certified Organic roaster, also offering Fair Trade offerings. They are based out of Olympia, WA, but also operate a roastery in Atlanta, which is where I work out of. I work with an amazing group of people there, like Mike Ferguson, heck all of them.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
The coffees. The people. The love.

So, I haven't blogged here in quite some time, and when you wear like a dozen hats in your job, sometimes you get too busy for this kinda thing, but I wanted to let you know what's coming up, and how freaking awesome this is gonna be. For the second year in a row, I had a wild hair up my butt to host another SCAA Skill Building Workshop. The things are just so much fun, and so beneficial to the coffee and barista community as a whole! They are great ways to get baristas and shop owners started… Continue

Coffee and stuff in Athens, Georgia......

Posted on January 4, 2009 at 5:21pm 2 Comments

Well, I finally got a chance to spend the day in my old coffee stomping grounds Athens, Georgia, this past weekend. It was honestly good to have extra time to really see the new coffee scene there. I had met a couple of guys off here that I knew were in coffee there, and was excited to see what they had going on nowadays. I wasn't disappointed, and was really pleasantly surprised. I visited a couple of shops I had been to before, of course Jittery Joes, and Walker's Coffee and Bar (or whatever… Continue

Hi Jason - I noticed your passion for coffee, and see you are deeply invovled. We are a company located in Highlands, NC. We have a gourmet grocery store in town, and have started up our roasting operations, which has been well received. We are in the process of opening an espresso/coffee bar and we are looking for a tlaented indiivdual to head up the shop. Given you obivious involment in the industry, I wanted to see if you could steer any talent our way; it could be a significant opportunity for them, as well as us. By the way us is Mountain Fresh Grocery. I aopolgize for the direct contact. REgards. Don
