Im on an espresso quest to taste all the best espresso blends(or s/o) in America(or the world for that matter). I want to hear what you guys think are the best, so i can buy them online and try them myself. So Ill go first, so far my top three in no particular order are: Stumptowns "Hairbender", Sightglass's "owls howl", and an espresso from Counter Culture(dont know what it was called, sorry). So what are your favorites?

Lots of great espresso blends out there, but the one that always has me is the original Hines Public Market Coffee 'Spro blend from Origins Organic Coffee in Vancouver, BC.

 

It has been our "house" espresso since 2004.

really Owls howl??? everytime ive ever tried it, it seems so tame, neat it tastes like .. super pedestrian ( for lack of a better word) and in milk it gets totally lost. Blue Bottle's got a great number of shots going for them ; retrofit, hayes valley, 17ft ceiling, all of them great both in complexity, feel and just plain ole' taste- not to mention consistency i've had a cup at every one of their locations and never been disappointed.
Thats the great thing about coffee, different people like different things. Everytime I get straight espresso from blue bottle I wonder to myself "why they are so popular". Ive had one shot I enjoyed from blue bottle but it was a s.o. tanzanian. Plus I really hate the "to cool for school" kids. Truly one of the reasons I love coffee so much is that there really is no right, just preferred. (word of warning sightglass just changed the blend of there espresso, took out a sumatra and added a new guinea) Not quite as good as it used to be, but still on of the top espresso in the city,in my opinion :)

Dustin is right.  Different people like different things.

 

While I've always found the Hines to be my espresso of choice, I've always wondered what the fascination is with Black Cat.  It just never suited my tastes.  Blue Bottle?  Absolutely the worst espresso I had in 2010, but many adore it.

 

From my perspective, it's important to decide on a main espresso and then augment that with a changing selection of espresso blends to tantalize your customer base.  One thing to bear in mind is that you cannot be all things to all people.

Jay, funny that you mention Blue Bottle. i have only heard of it thru a couple of my customers from the Bay area and they both swear my stuff is better than Blue Bottle.  I hope it is better than you think.  LOL.
Well, The "Best" espresso is always the one you like the most!

Milano coffee, over in Vancouver BC. La Uno is a beautiful ten bean varietal. Or the Conca d’oro, an amazing body with a highlight of cocoa.

At the moment, I'm a little obsessed with Third Coast Espresso from Madcap in Grand Rapids, MI.
I just had a one-day trip to Chicago this weekend and got to try some Honey Badger at Intelli.  Not an everyday drink but very interesting.  I'd recommend everyone try it!

I'll vouch for Cuvee Coffee Roasters down in good ole' Texas.

Just tried their signature Meritage espresso.

Finished clean every time...well worth a shot.
