Hi everyone I am going to try and build a pour over bar but I can't seem to find a metal grate for the bottom where the cups will sit. Anyone have any ideas? Will be much appreciated.

Scrap yard? It may be easiest to have a artisan make one at a machine shop.

My dad made a series of pour over bars for me out of wood. My mom faux finished them and put different logos on them for my wholesale customers. Design options are limitless.

He hollowed out the bottom base board of the structure with coffee cup sized holes to put the cups in. We also had a few with decanter sized slots. Its a lot more wiping and clean up, but easier in the long run aside from having one made.

Amazon has quite a selection, you just have to search for beer stuff, as they are not really known as coffee drip trays.

Sarah thanks for the great ideas I am going to rethink my design. Jeremy that was exactly what I was looking for thanks for the info.

You don't need one really. Slide a shallow bowl under the dripper as you remove it from the rack. Keep a towel nearby if you spill a few drops. Works for me.

Some good suggestions so far.

You might also check out your local hardware store or Lowe's. I know that Lowe's has a section in the hardware department that sells threaded rod, angle iron, and decorative perforated metal. Grab a strip of perf and a pair of wide flat sheet metal pliers and you'll be in business.

Or check here.

Thanks Dennis and Brady for the suggestion I will definetly take your suggestions into consideration!

Home Depot or Lowe's will have some expanded or perforated metal.  Otherwise, look for a metal working shop in your city and talk to them (or even the local restaurant supplier) about making whatever you want.

For our needs, we know a variety of metalworkers to do just about any job we need.  Get out there and meet them, the talent is out there!

I am pretty sure that my local Dept of Health would insist that the tray be made from food grade stainless steel.

I think that the beer drip trays will do just what you need without worrying about an NSF label.

Ya Ron I agree that would be the safest way but I think I can find something out there that would pass the health dept. and thanks for your input.
