OK, I just bought a 4 gr DC with the DCII GCs grinder. I looked at the LM's, but the recovery time on the hot water from the steam tank sunk the line. I know its going to be awesome, but has anybody used / had problems with the DC Evolution ?.
Just curious.....

Thanks

what are you using the hot water for anyway, I'd not want that for tea you get lots more heavy minerals in the water from the higher temps(of the steam boiler, its not a hot water tower) even with superior filtration.
The thing that bothers me with the Dalla Corte's is the locking lugs on the portafilters, they are too narrow to wipe easily and collect lots of grinds between them and the edge of the basket. Not a big deal at home with my Mini, just need a small bevelled brush, but in a commercial environment this would really annoy me. I'm just guessing the Evolution has the same group. I would be really interested to know what you think of the machine after a few months of solid use.
I agree with the comment before as well, you don't really want to draw hot water from the espresso machine for Americanos or teas really, although this is pretty common practice in a lot of places.
How are the grinders?
Hi Bill, thanks for the reply, unfortunately I have a serious space issue and I rely on my espresso machine for hot water for tea & americanos. The DC has a mixing valve to temperate the water and control the debit from the steam tank, it replaces as it takes so the recup rate is very good( so it seemed on the tests we did), also we will be flushing the tank on a regular basis, this also part of the evolution regular Operating possibilities.
So actually I'll be offering a better 'tea' than I have been with my good ol Astoria....
Thanks again for the input..

thats cool that it has a mixing valve at least
also let me know how that grinder and machine are im curious about the unknown, think your the first one to post on here about the DC machines and own one. take some pics maybe some under body pics too if its not much trouble?
No Problem, I'm using a malkonig K-60 es now, the DC model is basically the same body but totally different inside. It will be nice to be able to have consistant shots, no disrespect to all baristas, but in a high volume situation, we tend to let things go a littlt too much, ie grind not quite right, too much/ little coffee in the shot, all these variables will now be controlled by the program ( which we can monitor at all times), and adjusted automatically. Should be sweet.....
I figure it will take a few months to tweek the espresso and decaf blends.... Its gonna be interesting.... A real ($$$) leap of faith..
I love The DC and a roaster I work with just bought one from us and we had an amazing amount of fun plugging in the machine to the laptop and programming the temps to each group head using a conical burr Compak grinder and then dialing in the perfect temp for each shot. The machine we got also had three steam wands - one is an auto steam that can be programmed to shut off at a specific temp as well as a easy way to adjust air flow and calibrate for lattes or capps. The machine also has the ability to back flush itself. The feedback you get from the program and using your laptop is about the coolest thing I have seen in an espresso machine. The roaster loves his machine and now he really has it dialed in and as he says " the espresso is singing right out of the machine". In case you cant tell I love these machines
Big boiler is best I think.

DC Evolution is able through the palm pilot to adjust all boiler temps

with steam hot water & brew heads

you can set the amount of % of cold water that mixes with hot

You can back flush the boiler 1 a month to keep water tasting good with a good filter system

call 877 777 7300 Dalla Corte N America

The boiler system on Dalla Corte is a 0.1 C temp control

the power to volume ratio for the 2 group will keep up with the average 3 group

The steam system will make the most perfect micro foam do to  sepearte brew groups and steam boiler designe and delivery wand

Hello! I am considering using a couple of the two group DC-Pro's in my stores. I would to hear from operators, baristi and bariste, and repair people as to the ease of use, frequency of repair and the overall quality of the shots. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Tim

Does anybody know how much the OCS and DTCS cost? Ive just bought a second hand Dalla corte evolution 3 groups, the machine has been sitting there for a year doing nothing, anyone got any tips for what I need to do before I turn on and use it again?
Thanks
