Was looking at getting either a Baratza Vario or a Macap M4. But at Chris Coffee I saw the Cimbali Junior for 550.00 which was 100.00 off of their regular price. so I picked one up and received it on Wednesday, so now I waiting for some coffee that I ordered. From what I've read at other sites it takes about 5 lbs of coffee to be run through a new grinder to season the burrs, is this correct If so then I'll have to run to Port City Java and pick up some more cheaper beans to run through it.

Don't waste 5 lbs of coffee. They must be selling coffee for that advice.

Nope, they are actually quite correct.

I've heard the same thing quite often. 3-5 lbs. to "season" the burrs, but it has me thinking. Why not use something like 2-3 lbs. of rice as that should have the same effect, then follow that up with with an old pound of beans to flush anything remaining out. If rice works well for cleaning burrs, etc. it should work well for breaking them in. Later!
Thanks for all of the info
