Can anyone recommend a "home roaster" that I can have fun with?

I started with an iRoast and now have moved up to a Behmor which I really love. It says it will do a pound at a time, but in reality to get the roast times down I usually do batches of 11 oz. green, so two batches to get approx. one pound roasted. You *NEVER* leave it unattended! I did on my first one and I almost set my house on fire... However, it is a tough little unit and they provide good support. After a few emails I received a new temperature sensor. With a lot of cleaning, a new chaff tray and drum, and the sensor I have it up and running again. I actually, now, have two of them. I run them simultaneously and can roast up to 2.5 lbs. per hour. It is still not the Diedrich IR3 that I would love to have, but you can't beat the $300 price tag for the Behmor. I also use the Behmor Thing software which keeps track of the roasting times, all of my green stash, and so much more. I would recommend Sweet Maria's and GreenCoffeeBuyingClub.com for beans. Let me know if you would like any more info. I love roasting at home and wouldn't have it any other way! -Stef
Ditto on the Ken Davids book. It rocks. Even if you weren't roasting, it's an essential primer in understanding coffee more holistically.
