You will cheat yourself if you don't go by Caffe D'Arte. They are at 1625 2nd Ave. That is 2nd and Stewart. This is a nice morning what from the convention center.

It's your best friend for coffee travels.

Cafe Vivache is a local favorite, as well as Stumptown Coffee roasters (Boylston/Pine, or 12th by Seattle U)

To be honest, (and no offense to the D'Arte crew or to you Wes) I find D'Arte to be pretty mediocre (at best) most of the time. It's just a lot of old school super darkly roasted coffee...

Victrola, Herkimer, Seattle Coffee Works (was surprised those two aren't on the espressomap), Vita and Trabant all get rave reviews but I haven't been able to personally visit these shops.

I loved Herkimer and Seattle Coffee Works - they hit it on all cylinders. Vivace and Vita were really good too, though not quite my preferred vibe. Had a great time at Trabant, but though I got great drinks at one, the other was just ok... and I don't remember which was which now!

Have fun!
Monorail (downtwon) is a hole in the wall that should be experienced. Nice folk, real barista attitude, but the coffee is just good. The espresso is nothing to write home about in the light of the other places you've been sent, but the ambiance of that place rocked me.
You've been given great suggestions, but I wouldn't walk past a Lardo's er... *Ladro's* either.
