New approach to staffing

Hey,

I have a business proposal that I'd love some feedback on.

A quick background is that, at least in Sweden, coffee shops prefer having more employees with fewer hours rather than a few full-time employees. Therefore me and a few restless barista-friends are currently looking into starting up our own barista agency, renting out baristas at competitive rates (slightly more expensive than hiring them yourself).

This, we think, would solve the our problem of not having a full-time job and the cafés problem of being overstaffed. Everybody's happy.

Please bear in mind that we're in southern Sweden, where there's plenty of coffee shops and that the process of hiring/firing is both quite expensive (taxwise) and a tad complicated legally.

What are your thoughts about this?

  • Is this a good way to solve those extra hours without hiring someone for, say, 10hr/week?
  • Would you look into it for your own coffeshop, provided you knew the quality of the baristas?
  • Do you think it's necessary for the baristas to have SCAE-certification (if yes, what level)?

Thank you so much for your time!

Sincerely

Peter
