We love the coffee at work, but what about outside of work? Where do you go for coffee after hours and on your days off?

I just make it at home :-)

I usually try other coffee shops and more than once with a different barista ... but so far I default back to making it myself at home.
Lately I've been drinking more at home, but I'll go by and support other local cafe's when I'm running errands or with friends and family.
Home :).

I know most of the shop owners around Charlotte, and try to pop in for a cup when I'm in their neighborhood. Generally its a drip, something cold, or not coffee - I get coffee-d out after shifts.

Actually, there are a couple that I know are working hard on being great (and a couple that just think they are) that I try to hit more often. At those shops, I'll order more challenging stuff and then critique it, just to keep them on their toes. Yes, I have become that guy.
I only have drip at our bakery, so I go home for the "good" stuff. There are NO shops in my area, although I just found out about a bistro, opening late summer/early fall, that might serve coffee. I have already spoken with the owner about her plans, and she claims she'll let me know what she decides. Maybe, just maybe, she'll ask for advice...right, not holding my breath.

I sometimes get a craving for a great espresso, but Athens, GA and Atlanta are too far away. It's tough being in the coffee badlands.
Hopefully she realizes you have good advice to offer and I hope you can enjoy decent local coffee son.

Home.
What about when you visit somewhere? Is that the only time you try another cafe?
I can't handle coffee after work...too many espresso's dialing in.
What about on days off?

If I am out of town in Seattle or PDX, I hit the known quality places like Vivace, Stumptown, BARISTA, Victrola, Lighthouse... locally, like most towns, there just isn't a palatable alternative. Better to go out for beers.

I must be lucky then. There are at least two decent cafe's here.
"decent" sounds like settling.

Any "really good", "great", or "fantastic" ?
