    Hey Jesse,
Congratulations on making the finals! I was worried during the preliminaries when saw the Arobie press, those things can be a technical disaster if you mess up. But you pulled it off and scored well, and you had one of the slickest looks in the bunch.
  • Jesse -D->

the above photos of the barista competition were taken by the talented Liz Clayton.
  • Troy Reynard

Jesse, great job at NERBC, congrats. I hope to see you in Easton for the jam in June!
  • Brendon Parsons

Hey, just saw you in the Gimme blog. Congrats!
  • Brendon Parsons

Yeah, funny enough, I just stumbled on the Gimme blog yesterday. Nice production value! Look forward to seeing more posts from the roasting and equipment columnists. One of these days, I'll have to order some of your espresso blend, since it pairs so well with beer, could be a fun for the next local homebrew club event.
  • Rich Westerfield

    Jesse,
Great performance and congrats on finals. Loved seeing an aeropress on stage!

Didn't get to say goodbye to Erin, the hardest working woman in coffee. Send her our love.

Don't know if you guys talk much to Chris Gainger, but we're still wondering why the no-show. We were looking forward to a kilt appearance. We going back to Ithaca next year?
  • Tim Noble

    Hey Jesse,
Yeah, from Ithaca last year for the NERBC. Congratulations, I would have liked to go.

  • Aaron McNany

Hey! I work at Northern Light Espresso Bar in Scranton, PA and we use your stuff - in what capacity do you work for gimme! ?
  • Aaron McNany

Not going to lie, that would be sweet. It's always nice to feel close to our coffee supplier. By the way, the new bags of Las Mingas are exceptional.
  • Tyler Stevens

Well, A synesso would be fantastic as well... No need to say. :) But I am limited to about 10k. So I am definately looking used.
  • Aaron McNany

I'm in every day except Sundays and Wednesdays. Luke and I will both be in on Thursday after 3, but let me know because I can come in just about any time. I look forward to meeting you...
  • Miro

Jesse thanks for all the coffee! It's soooo good. The Panama was really good, and i have not had the chance to have that Colombian, but im definitely going to chemex that bad boy today. Tell Gabe, "thank you for roasting the sweetness" from all the ugly kids. And thank you for sending it homie.

I hope our coffee is there by now, if not it should totally arrive today. I think it will be on its 6th day of rest, so brew those bad boys soon. Let me know what you think.

    Much love
    -Miro
  • Jaimie Rae Weidner

what problems did you have with the steam wand? i did have a little trouble at competition, but after using it for a few days now i made a perfect bone dry capp and plenty of latte art. i feel that it heats the milk faster, so the amount of time you're frothing for needs to be so short and specific...let me know what trouble you had and maybe i can help.
  • Aaron McNany

nice meeting you today...I look forward to visiting sometime soon!
  • Ross kunze

I was really happy I got to try it. A friend of mine was visiting NY and I asked her to bring me some back. Is that one of your direct trades?
  • Alun Evans

Thanks Jesse, to know that someone has read it and enjoyed it is great. Keep well, Alun
  • chuck celentano

Well give me a one day lead time, I don't make them everyday. All my stuff is really good, so come on in!!!! What is the name of the shop where you work? We really love Broten, the soups and breads are awesome.
  • chuck celentano

Sounds like a huge business concern. We are just a small place, realy cozy, good food and coffee.;)
  • nik orosi

hello man, some people from gimme know about me, but the hell, i dont know their names...anyway, i like your pics and using of aeropress. please, if free to write me how you were using and what youv done with at competition. also, like the way you are answering to some topics, do you thing we should be harder on some people with stupid questions and boring posts?
  • Maria

so i got my new issue of barista mag in the mail the other day and when i was reading the article about the competition in cranberry and i was amazed to read about this jesse from gimmie coffee in ithaca... do you know him? haha. congrats for making it into the magazine.
  • Sam Jones

Hey Jesse, I'm Sam. I am just buying 2 mirages. I'm switching from a Synesso and am wondering if you have any tips on getting the best shot possible . Do they have any issues that I should be aware of?
Your machine looks sweet by the way.
    Cheers
  • Sam Jones

Thanks for the response. I will be posting my thoughts when the machines arrive.
  • Banana Dang

    Thank you Jesse!
  • Katherine Anible

Hey man! Good to meet you. We already sold our pound bags from our last delivery. I'm hoping an exchange can happen some time over the summer. I have family in Ithaca and am missing the terrain. :)
  • Pablo Castaneda

Hola Jesse thanks for the comment, don't worry mate it was really helpful indeed, that's why I did it.- Are you planning to go to Coffee fest vegas???

    thanks mate.-
  • Jaimie Rae Weidner

ok well after working on the Simonelli for over a month, my milk has improved so much. The best angle honestly is to keep the vertical part of the wand at a 90 degree angle to your milk when (briefly) frothing, then when you bring your pitcher up (nice and deep) to create the vortex, i angle it a bit more toward the machine, and I'vebeen looking for a certain sound which is where the magic happens. I guess this sounds pretty common to any steaming technique, so yes it just takes getting used to, but its so damn smooth! If you're ever in the NYC area let me know, Peekskill is only 45 min. north of the city, and you'd be welcome to stop in and jam out and get some experience in!
  • Nathan Lyle Black

Thanks for the compliment Jesse. I'm really glad you work for Gimme. Just yesterday, I was wishing I knew someone who works there. I bought the PDF Gimme barista manual yesterday and then received an email with a code for 25% off my next coffee order. I've recently had your Rwanda Epiphanie, Panama Hartmann Honey, and Costa Rica La UniĆ³n Relationship Coffee, and was impressed by all three. I want to order something new, which Gimme coffee is your favorite?
  • Nathan Lyle Black

Thanks. I'll place an order soon.
  • Maria
