Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Minneapolis, MN
How many years have you been in the industry?
13
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I have been in Sales/Training for over 12 years in the Upper Midwest region of the country. I wish to continue to keep abreast with in the industry and share what I have learned with our customers to keep them on top and in business. We support the independent cafe owner in all areas of the industry. I love to share and learn from other experts.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
Any relating to coffee and gelato. My first choice would be Italy.
About Me:
I love what I do and wish to be able to retire doing so. I am a great believer in training and keeping up on the newest and latest trends. I believe that you can never stop learning and improving your skills. I am very passionate about what I do!
About My Company:
We are a wholesale supplier and micro roaster in our 16th year of supporting the independant cafe owner. We are now the regions leading supplier and trainers of the Gelato industry. We are a small family run business that supports eco conscience operations and products. We operate using Solar power and eco-lighting. We are firm believers in formulating a relationship with each customer and developing a sales strategy that will ensure their success. We are committed to the highest level of customer service, period!!
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
I like it. I've found several places where there is some serious need for policing! :-)
I live in a little town called Darlington, its at the bottom of county Durham, right up north, a good 450km from London! Not exactly the cultural hub of the coffee world, but I hope I am doing my bit to combat that!
Thank you, i would try NOT to alter the passion that i have
Its true i need to start from somewhere, thats why i am looking for a job as a barista, but there aren't many here as coffee isn't that popular here.
Hi Kevin, thanks for the invite and thanks for starting the group...definitely give me a call if you are going to be in Madison...look forward to meeting you!
Great to hear from you. All is well. How are things in the cities? I plan to be at the UP show next week and look forward to seeing you and the rest of the Upper Midwest gang. Have a great weekend.
man you guys have done such nice work!! I had to go over and buy some spro and some of that soy blenders product.....Jesse is really doing some nice work!!
Hi!
We will be on vacation during the Milwaukee event otherwise we would have loved to have gone. Is there a coffee show in Minnesota soon? We thought we heard about one but I have yet to check.
Thanks
Jodi,
Yes there is a coffee show coming to Minneapolis soon. It's the big kahoona of all coffee shows! The SCAA show will be here on May 2-5. Go to www.scaa.org to register and for further info.
Thanks for getting back with me!
Kevin
Thanks Kevin. I am glad your interested in doing another barista jam. It will be a great way to get the Minnesota coffee community excited about the SCAA conference and USBC. I will call you in the next couple of weeks to discuss setting up a jam further. Did you have a good turn out for the last jam?
Howdy, Kevin. We're hoping to be open for business in July soooo, for the time being, I'm barista-ing at home and spending some quality time at Kopplin's.
Another jam??
wow
I just got back from the Great Lakes regional barista competition...got some great stuff to share- got to participate in judging...etc very cool
let me know if you need anything for the jam.
Hi Kevin,
You are most welcome for the post on Milwaukee Specialty Food and Coffee about your upcoming Barista Jam. Totally my pleasure.
You can subscribe to the blog's feed if you like.
Thank you for the invite to come and speak, but unfortunately I'm unable to attend. Please make sure to let me know your thoughts about how it went and I'll post a follow-up.
Have fun!
Mary
I will get a unit to you pretty soon. We have formulated all our comments back from our beta users and we are redesigning the product in the next 12 weeks. We are trying to be extra careful after Handpresso came out with a product that is very similar to what we have on our webpage. Unfortunately, not everyone operates like the song One Night in Bagkok, “I only kick above the beltline baby.” Thankfully, the 5 claims that we have on our patent have not been revealed, and handpresso only was able to have a design that matched ours.
We will be there. I have taken a more proactive role this year. I volunteered for 3 out of the 4 days for various events. Hopefully I'll learn, and meet some new people. We'll see you there!
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I am glad to hear that you are pulling something together. I will unfortunately not be able to make it down from Duluth for the jam. If you have any materials that you are using I would love to take a look at them. I was also wondering if you have contacted Peter Middlecamp from Black Sheep or Miguel at Paradise Roasters. They have both expressed interest in the past. I hope all goes well, thanks.
Kevin,
I never received a phone call back from the message I left you last week. I assume since I didn't hear from you that you have your equipment and technical expertise needs taken care of. I do plan to stop by to check out the event.
Hi Kevin,
I would love to hear how the barista jam went. I was also wondering if you will be at the SCAA conference this coming weekend. I will be judging at the USBC, but would love to meet you if you are going to be there. Thanks again for putting together the jam.
hey kevin,
it looks like you are the authority on the twin cities coffee scene. i'm going to be in town this weekend for the SCAA show and i had a few questions for you. would you be willing to chat? we're coming as a car load of out-of-towners so we have a few important questions!
Stop on by...500 Main St in Evanston off of the Purple Line. I will be at Coffee Fest, well, Millrock actually, but I'll be around.
847.274.2253...stick this number in your phone and call me up when you're in town. I can hook you up with directions, suggestions, or just meet up for drinks.
Do you know Nicole??
I think I'll be at Coffee Fest on Saturday if all goes according to plan...I had a good time there a couple years ago so hopefully I'll be down there again this year!
I'll try to find the booth, it sounds like Steve and maybe 1-2 of our baristas might be going also. What kinds of products do you have?
thanks for the offer, and i would love to say yes count me in for a pass.
however, i am without a car and have a serious lack of coffee enthusiast friends.
know of anyone who could maybe rideshare me down there?
Hi Kevin,
Yes, this is a great site. I have yet to use it like I should though...that's on my list of things to do this year. CoffeeFest? Maybe...things are pretty tight these days but I surely would enjoy spending at least one day down there if we could. Have a fantastic week and weekend.

Let me check my schedule and get back to you. It is great to see the attention centered on skill building...
