coffee enthusiast, industry professional, consultant, supplier
Where are you located? ( City and Country )
Lancaster, PA
How many years have you been in the industry?
22
If you are a barista or shop, are you interested in a barista exchange with another coffee shop/barista?
yes
Tell us more about your coffee shop or barista skills.
I work for Peet's Coffee & Tea.
What cities or countries are you interested in traveling to?
ALL. I have traveled to over 40 states, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Costa Rica.
About Me:
I have been blessed to work for some of the finest companies in our industry... Bunn, CBI, Portland Roasting, Batdorf & Bronson, Rancilio and now Peet's Coffee & Tea!
About My Company:
Alfred Peet started roasting in 1966. He went on to mentor the founders of Starbucks, who eventually sold Starbucks and came back to the bay area and bought Peet's from Alfred, happily putting him into retirement. We are now an almost $400 million dollar publicly traded company that is poised for tremendous growth! I am so blessed to be a part of it.
What is your favorite thing about the coffee industry?
The friends and colleagues I have been blessed to know and work with.
Hey man, it was nice to meet you at DC. I hope to get out to your new underground coffee shop! I am going to get in touch with you soon about a jam I am putting together....
Hi Ken,
I am a total retard! I now have 2 profile pages. Do you know how to merge them? Also, does this site come with a direction manual? I can't seem to figure it all out. Please help a sista that is struggling. Becky
I didn't make it to the UP Show due to the weather. Sorry I missed you...but we should still make plans to hit the road together in the near future. Safe travels home.
Hey Ken!
It was great seeing you in D.C. and Minneapolis too. I just got your message, had an early night, but next time your in town give mommy dearest and I shout and we will get dinner for sure. Have a safe flight home to your fam!
Ken im interested in your expresso machines, i need to buy some for my hotel in Guatemala, I want to know more about them. Price range and else. I wont deal with any distributor, i rather buy directly from you, if that is not the case thanks anyway.
I miss dan too. after twins and a two year old...geeze...its cutting in to my time with friends like bushmills! They are so darn cute though. I'll post some new pics soon.
The same. Living the dream, letting it flow everyday. Working on a new training manual. Gotta love it. How's the house shop coming? When's the Grand Opening?
We're actually roasting out of the little known town of Kalama. Have been for about 3 years. Just don't tell a lot of people. It's like saying you're a red sox fan and an A'Rod fan at the same time, it just doesn't go over well.
Not sure what "it is what is it is" means, but it was what it was for sure. :) Was there doing some research on food items and stumbled onto the barista event. Do you know who the judge sitting on the right end was? Middle age male, took charge when there was a technical espresso machine issue. He seemed to know alot about pulling shots, time, etc.
My shop will be in Bellville. Still working with the designer and consultant and the time table looks to be opening in ten to twelve months.
Definately let me know when you guys are in touch in Sugarland. Any time schedules?? Would love to hear what is going on there, and share about my little project in Bellville. Peace.
I have to say... I reckon Levers are making a come back! I just got delivery of a 3 group/lever Rapallo (Astoria). Rancilio is still building these beauties as are LaSanMarco and Pavoni...
Long time, no talk... How goes everything? I left Champaign in Oct. and am now in Chicago with Crop to Cup Coffee. Will you be in town for CoffeeFest? If not, I'm sure I'll say hi in Atlanta at SCAA (are you still in Marrieta?).
things are heating up Kenny boy. Turns out my annual pilgrimage to the UP falls on the same weekend as Coffeefest which I'm supposed to be judging some kind of contest or something (at least that's what they told me after I filled out the piece of paper). Anyhoo, check out last years video and tell me, should I go North to get native or go South to hang out with Ken Hall? Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ignfpg5MCmA.
Hello you crazy dog! Look me up in Chicago, would love to hang with you after the floor closes (especially if you buy!). I will be working the Cappuccine booth and some others. call me when there 612-250-8277
Thats right. BVD Almighty will be in the Atl. I'll be snappin necks and cashin checks. Just not sure what day(s) yet. Were trying to keep our travel expenses to a minimum so we can really throw down for the sunken tub & rooftop in April. Can you get my two group covered in cobalt blue velour yet? Gnawgahide is so 60's. Later dude......
Ken, If you have any ideas or what you can share with out a commishion would be great. If I could pay some one to consult me I would. I am disabled and trying to become self suufcient, soo hence. I will only get funds after my business plan is put together and I go to a non profit for my loan. Thats my situation
Hey,
Ken have been having computer issues. Sorry I have not been able to reply back to you. Yeah i don't live too far from Georgia, but it is too far for me right now. darn it I forgot the name of your city, oh yeah Atlanta. I have been to Atlanta 1 time for a concert and got totaly lost.
What I have been reading is opening a coffee shop costs about $ 25,000-$ 35,000. Like when you want a location for a place what do you look for? I have been looking at % of poverty and educational levels from the census, and of course home values and retail sales. where do you look for your research ?
