A post on Entrepreneur.com uses a just-closed breakfast spot in Bainbridge, Wash., to illustrate the danger of giving core products away for free. Read more...
Interesting read but free waffles were not their only problem. High rent, odd location, low resident population and LOTS of competition including the boat that takes people to and from the island. Oh and its a one town ISLAND. LOL its too bad they went under but Bainbridge is not an ideal place to open most businesses.
Even though I dont think the example used to illustrate their point is very good I agree with the point of the article. Everyone here should really watch what they give away. I have a consulting client right now that is giving away too much to get their business started and its a battle convincing them that they need to give away less to get more back.
