31139472286?profile=originalWhether a cafe owner or a coffee lover, brewing the perfect cup of coffee is an art and a science. Many factors go into making a great cup of coffee, from the quality of the beans to the grind size to the water temperature. But with some knowledge and practice, you can make a delicious cup of coffee at home using just a few simple ingredients. Read on for our guide to brewing the perfect cup of coffee every time.

The first step to making the perfect cup of coffee is choosing the right beans. Could you make sure to pick a high-quality coffee bean you enjoy tasting?

The first step in making a great cup of coffee is selecting the perfect beans. Whether you enjoy the light and fruity coffees or dark and bold ones, there's something out there for everyone! Opt for high-quality coffee, like Colombian whole-bean coffee, when picking your beans. After all, freshness is vital to maximizing flavor and aroma. To make sure that you are getting the best product possible, please take a moment to read the label and look for certifications from reputable organizations. Be sure to pick one that you enjoy drinking from day to day; it will make all the difference in your daily cup!

Once you have your beans, it's time to grind them. The grind's coarseness will affect how long it takes to brew your coffee and how strong it will be. You can just experiment until you find a task that you like.

When making the perfect cup of coffee, the key to success lies in the right grind. Too fine, and your coffee can taste bitter, but too coarse, and your mug will taste weak. To determine the best effort for your desired strength, we recommend experimenting until you find the best grind that works for you. As part of this process, you'll observe how different levels of coarseness affect brewing time and flavor, allowing you to identify the optimal combination for crafting your perfect cup every time.

Now it's time to brew! Put your ground coffee in a filter and add hot water. Start with less water if you want a more robust cup of coffee or more water if you want a weaker cup of coffee.

It's time to take your coffee brewing process to the next level and ensure you're always getting a perfect cup! Start by adding your ground coffee to a filter, then add the hot water. Depending on how strong or mild you like your cup of joe, adjust the water quantity accordingly; if you're looking for more kick, go for less water. On the other hand, if you'd rather have a more mellow beverage, start with more liquid. With this technique in mind and following our guide every time, you'll be sipping on your perfect brew!

Let your coffee brew for the desired time, remove the filter, and enjoy

Now, after all your effort to prep your perfect cup of coffee, it's time for the most critical step - brewing! Time your brew carefully and ensure the length is within your desired range, whether a lighter or darker cup of joe. Once the timer rings off, move quickly - remove the filter from the machine and enjoy your freshly-brewed masterpiece. Take care to savor all its complex flavors and aromas before diving in for that first sip. Enjoy!

Now that you know the steps to brew the perfect cup of coffee, experiment until you find a combination of beans and grind that you like. Remember to start with less water if you want a more robust cup of coffee or more water if you want a weaker cup. And finally, enjoy your delicious cup of coffee!

Fulfilling your vision of being a business owner is attainable when starting your café. You can experience many advantages, from profits to creating your schedule, meeting other people and engaging in the community, and doing something you love. Although there are challenges, you can take those on by remembering to create effective strategies, including the tips mentioned below. Before opening, it is always best to plan and remain positive.

Get Permits and Licenses

You do not want to rent space, create slogans, develop a schedule, advertise, or hire team members before ensuring you have legal paperwork and documentation to own and operate your café. You must have federal, state, and local permits, which will vary from location to location. Therefore, it would be an excellent idea to sit down with a state official or legal representative to ensure you have the correct permits before officially opening. Remember that some licenses are more difficult to obtain and take long periods; therefore, planning could reduce the odds of opening setbacks while waiting for the permit approvals.

Equipment Purchase Planning

The machinery you purchase is a long-term investment, and it can lead to short-term profits or losses. As a result, you need to study the industry and learn more about the hardware you will need to succeed in the business. This includes selecting the right industrial coffee grinders and blenders, espresso machines, safe Café paying systems and cash registers, coffee makers, freezers and refrigerators, security systems, and more. Failing to plan this aspect of the café business correctly could lead to costly mistakes and a horrible reputation amongst customers.

The Menu Matters

Tea and coffee are vital aspects of a café business, but offering sandwiches, whether hot or cold, and fresh bakery items are essential. Therefore, having regular fresh bread delivery should be a part of the planning stages. Research the businesses you can contract with or hire directly. A reputable company can help you receive the products you need that meet your budget and menu necessities, but most importantly, satisfy your customers and lead to excellent reviews.

Find a Reliable Staff

The hiring process can be as challenging as the menu creation, equipment search, or licensing. However, it is one of the essential aspects of starting a café. The team members will be there to greet customers and can often determine if your clients return. The applicants you hire should be honest, positive, hardworking, and outgoing. Team members should also be willing to take on change, as the industry will have new trends and standards. Reliability is also vital when it comes to hiring staff. You want transparent, professional, and committed workers to show up and do a great job, which helps the atmosphere remain positive and can lead to business growth.

These beginner tips could help you before opening a café. Every situation is different, and what challenges one business owner may not affect you; regardless, it’s best to stay prepared to enjoy the benefits of starting your own business and fulfilling your goals.

More than a place that serves coffee, a coffee shop should feel like a temporary retreat where individuals can escape from the rigors of normal life. If your coffee shop is dirty, though, that feeling of tranquility will be ruined. At the same time, keeping your coffee shop clean can be a job that demands a lot of your time and energy. With the right renovations, though, you'll be able to clean up messes that occur and keep your coffee shop cleaner on a day-to-day basis.

Remove Carpet

If you're moving into a space that was previously used for a different purpose, one of the first things you'll want to do is remove any and all carpet. Carpet is difficult to clean when coffee gets spilled and holds onto dirt as customers move into and out of your coffee shop. You can replace the carpet with an easy-to-clean surface such as laminate or concrete. Hard floors are easy to apply waterproofing to and can be installed as waterproof by professionals.

Waterproof Porous Surfaces

In some cases, you may want to leave porous surfaces, such as wood finishes and leather cushions, in your coffee shop to add a more relaxed feel. However, any porous surfaces can make it difficult to keep your coffee shop clean when they absorb spills. That's why you should think about waterproofing these surfaces so that you can maintain their appearance and ensure that they're easy to keep clean at all times.

Simplify with Stainless

There's a reason that you see so much stainless steel in commercial kitchens: it's easy to clean. It makes sense, then, to use as much stainless steel as possible in your coffee shop to help simplify your cleaning processes. Stainless steel can be used in food preparation areas, service counters, on walls, on table tops, and much more. In addition to being easy to clean, stainless steel has the added benefit of being easy to sanitize.

Add Indoor Spigot

If you have a floor or other interior surfaces that are waterproof, it makes sense to clean them in the easiest way possible: by using a hose. By installing an indoor spigot, you can add easy access to water so that you can wash your floors, fill up buckets, and do other water-related tasks with ease. Just be sure that your furnishings are protected from water so that you don't end up causing damage.

Among other benefits you'll receive from making renovations to your coffee shop is the ability to clean your coffee shop with fewer chemicals. Since you'll have plenty of easy-to-clean surfaces, a simple bucket of soapy water will often suffice to get the job done. This will leave your coffee shop smelling clean without the overpowering scent that cleaning chemicals often have. This will ensure that the most important smell in your coffee shop - the coffee - will always take center stage.

Regardless of the time of the year, diners often look for meals and drinks that fit with the season. Summer offers a unique opportunity to potentially please the palates of more patrons as your eatery may have more traffic with both students and teachers off from school. Add some specials to your menu for additional pizazz.

Weeknight Deals

After dinner during the week, many couples and families decide to go for strolls in the summer months. Consider offering a two-for-one deal on sweet treats once dinner time ends. Another option, to encourage customers to continue dining out during the hot season, is to offer family meal specials one day per week. Depending upon the type of eatery you own, you could make a themed menu.

New Sandwiches

Consider the activities that people love in the summer. People often go to the beach, playground, park, or other outdoor location that allows visitors to bring in food. Therefore, plenty of diners are looking for sandwiches to pack in coolers or to eat on the go.

Unique Ingredients

Adding unique ingredients such as special bread. Making your sandwiches with delicious kaiser buns to the menu can make a big difference. Opt for seasonal flavors for an extra special touch such as pumpkin spice in the fall. Don't forget about options that kids like as well.

Cold Beverages

No matter the time of day, plenty of customers are likely looking for cold beverages in the summer. Whether these individuals want an iced coffee on their way to work or a cold lemonade after a long day at the beach, your eatery can serve this need. You might start up a line of frozen and iced beverages. Be sure to provide to-go cups. Doing so can increase the number of customers who stop by to purchase a quick drink.

Local Produce

Incorporating locally grown produce into your menu offerings can attract new target audience members. Depending upon the location and abilities of your cafe, you might even be able to use ingredients that your business grows independently. Some diners are specifically looking to eat at cafes that use this approach, so make sure to advertise the source of the produce used in the menu items.

Summer is a time of rebirth and growth in so many ways. People set new goals for themselves to achieve by the end of the season and rekindle relationships that might have fallen flat during the rest of the year. You can also feel motivated to add new menu items to your cafe to bring in more customers.

Coffee drinkers around the world strive to try new coffee flavors and degrees of strength. Providing a variety of rare flavors will keep your customers coming them coming back as they are in awe when visiting your coffee shop. To provide a profound coffee experience, here are some ways to bring rare flavors into your coffee shop.

Auction

Now, it may be easy for you to find the traditional Arabic or Columbian coffee bean and test out some syrups to add to the coffee, but to provide a truly unique experience for your customers, you need to research the rarest coffee beans in the world and figure out how to get your hands on it. To find rare beans, you may have to go to auction lots where the beans are sold to roasters. Best of Panama Competition Champion coffee scored high and is sold for $1300/lb.

Now, the average pound of coffee can make 48 cups of coffee. This may seem like a lot if you are purchasing the coffee for personal use but since your purchasing it for a business, you will need to purchase several pounds of coffee. Getting your hands on this coffee is important but learning how to roast the beans yourself is also important. If you roast the beans yourself, you can save on that money. There are other coffees such as the Hacienda El Robel HR61 coffee that sells for $150/lb. This is a special made Columbian coffee that comes from HR61 beans, this coffee is not produced often and is made available for auction as a charitable event.

Change Up the Coffee

Rare flavors in your coffee shop are important but not something you may be able to do year-round. Since specialty coffee is made only during special times, you can use this to your benefit when selling the coffee to the public. Since beans are only grown and distributed during certain times of the year, advertising the coffee in your shop is important. It’s just like seasonal flavors are only made during certain seasons.

Roast the Beans

Roasting green coffee beans cost less than roasting them and having them shipped as it takes out the leg work of the roasters. A bean roaster may have a higher upfront cost but will save you money as you continue to purchase green beans. There is nothing fresher than freshly roasted coffee beans and you can even use this to your advantage by selling freshly roasted coffee.

Whole Bean Columbian Supremo

A 2 lb bag whole bean Colombian coffee with notes of dark chocolate and amaretto cherry will give a fresh finish to the brewing process. Purchasing these beans whole and then grinding them to order will give the customer a fresh cup of coffee that is smooth, aromatic, and flavorful. The roast is medium providing the perfect consistency for the customer.

To provide a profound coffee experience, these are the perfect ways to find a unique flavor and bring a great coffee experience to the customer. Providing different flavors and options during the year will keep the customer coming back to find out what new flavors are available

The recent Coronavirus pandemic outbreak has shocked many of us - our lives have paused whilst we succumb to the social distancing measures that are in place to protect us from the virus. This has impacted small and large businesses across the world as they’ve had to close to prevent small gatherings of people.

This is something that’s particularly relevant with coffee shops. Thankfully, we’ve seen social distancing measures lift, allowing small businesses to open again. This has meant you may have to adapt your operations in order to adhere to the measures but still ensure your business can get the customers in.

As a result, there have been great measures that coffee shops have introduced to protect their staff and their customers from the COVID-19 virus that could still be lingering. Here are what coffee shops are doing and any tips that you could utilise for your coffee shop business.

Cleaning efforts have increased

CDC guidance and rules have been set out by governments on how they can prevent the spread of the virus. Standard sanitation guidelines include frequent handwashing and disinfecting surfaces that are regularly touched by members of staff and the public. Safety measures such as masks and gloves being worn have also been made a priority.

Suspending use of personal cups

Whilst the use of personal cups have been a great incentive to protect the environment and increase sustainability, it’s also something that could easily spread the virus relatively quickly. Passing used cups from one person to another can easily cause others to contract the virus. So, for now coffee shops have advised customers that the use of personal cups will be suspended temporarily until it’s safe to allow their use again.

In-app purchasing

To save close contact interaction between customers and staff, many coffee shop businesses have introduced contactless transactions and in-app purchases. This allows customers to make their order in advance from a distance and simply allow them to pick up the order swiftly once it’s been completed. There’s also the option for contactless delivery to save customers entering the coffee shop in groups.

Reducing opening hours/limited menu

To sustain the number of customers that coffee shops can manage, they’ve been offering limited menus and opening hours. This allows staff to maintain the number of orders they receive from customers and allow more time to sanitise the surrounding areas and prepare them for the next working day.

Protecting your customers and staff in the coffee shop

Whilst we’ve seen many non-essential businesses such as cosmetic surgery clinics, restaurants and gyms reopen again it’s still extremely important that these businesses do their bit to protect staff and customers. The guidelines above are ideal safety tips for coffee shop owners to adhere to and allow their businesses to attract revenue, even during testing times.

Are you concerned that you might be drinking too much coffee? There is no exact amount of coffee that is considered too much since it can vary a lot from person to person. Nonetheless, the following information can still help you to get a better idea of how much coffee you can drink a day without experiencing any issues.

Maximum Recommended Daily Caffeine Intake

The FDA recommends that healthy adults limit their caffeine intake to no more than 400 milligrams per day. If you drink regular brewed coffee, this means you should try to drink no more than four or five 8-ounce cups in a day. However, women who are pregnant or people with serious health problems should limit their caffeine intake to a maximum of 200 milligrams a day.

Many people are surprised to learn that they can actually have more individual shots of espresso in a day than cups of coffee. According to the USDA, a single 1-ounce shot of espresso contains around 64 milligrams of caffeine on average compared to approximately 96 milligrams in an 8-ounce cup of coffee.

Of course, this number can vary quite a bit based on the type of coffee you drink and how it’s made. For instance, there can be a difference between light and dark roast. Although both types have essentially the same caffeine content, a pot of brewed light roast coffee will usually have more caffeine than a pot of dark roast coffee.

31139471691?profile=original

The reason is that light roast coffee is denser and thus takes up less volume. This means there would be more coffee in the scoop of light roast than there would be in the same size scoop of dark roast. However, this isn’t the case if you drink k cups since these are always measured and packaged by weight and not volume. K cups are an easy way to keep track of how much coffee you’re drinking so you don’t have to worry about measuring every cup out.

How to Know If You’re Drinking Too Much Coffee

It is usually fairly easy for a person to tell when they’re drinking too much coffee, but this isn’t always the case especially if you have been drinking many cups a day for years. Still, if you find yourself experiencing side effects like headaches, nervousness, anxiety, insomnia or a fast heartbeat, it’s a good idea to cut back and see if this helps.

Caffeine affects people in different ways, and what is just fine for some may be too much for others. Still, one obvious sign that you’re drinking too much coffee is if you find yourself getting jittery or experiencing other issues as soon as you drink even a little bit more. For instance, if you find yourself getting a headache every day as soon as you have your fourth cup, this is a sign that you should limit yourself to three cups at the most.

The good news is that it’s basically impossible to overdose on caffeine by drinking coffee alone. It would take the average person well over 100 cups to approach anything near a lethal dose of caffeine. Nonetheless, if you find yourself experiencing any adverse effects from drinking coffee, you should probably consider cutting back your intake.

The perfect French Press method

31139471871?profile=original

The French Press, simple and effective to giving a great tasting coffee!

I came across this method some years back, and it still baffles some people when I explain it.

#1 RULE

Invest in good coffee

Don't try this with cheap supermarket blends as its not even worth your time.

You need some good quality fresh coffee. If you've not tried RaveCoffee then I'd highly recommend. Once you've got your beans or pre-ground blend you want to weigh out around 15g of coffee and add 250ml of water per serving.

Leave to sit for 4 minutes and give the newly formed top crust a quick stir. This will cause any loose blend to fall to the bottom of the press which is where we want to keep it.

Then....

add the press element and rest it on top of the water, leave for another 4 minutes to complete extraction and pour. Don't press down as this will stir up the coffee again, just pour. Mind blowing right, not pressing a french press? Trust us, this will ensure a clean coffee and won't stir up any sludge at the bottom of your cup.

What Is Bird Friendly Coffee?

Bird Friendly Coffee is Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center (SMBC) certified and represents a gold standard in ethical and sustainable coffee business.

Bird Friendly Coffee is coffee that comes from family farms in Latin America that provide good, forest-like habitat for birds. Rather than being grown on farms that have been cleared of vegetation, Bird Friendly coffees are planted under a canopy of trees. These trees provide the shelter, food and homes migratory and local birds need to survive.

Ours is the only US company that solely sells triple-certified Smithsonian Bird Friendly, USDA Organic, and Fair Trade coffee from a B-Certified Roaster.

Bird friendly coffees are guaranteed to support bird habitat. Bird friendly coffees are also grown without pesticides, it also is shade grown under a canopy of trees that provides quality habitat for a variety of birds. Most coffee sold is sun-grown and sun makes coffee grown faster and produce more coffee. This makes loss of tropical biodiversity and harms resident birds.

Bird-Friendly coffee farming practices necessarily have lower yields because other plants, which are providing theshade for the coffee and habitat for songbirds, take up space.

With the closing of dining rooms and the trend of social distancing, you will want to find a way to drive business to your eating establishment. One of the smartest ways to continue your business’s growth is to transition to a drive-thru only menu. Here are the four top ways you can keep your business going with a drive-thru only menu.

Limited Menu

The first thing you will want to do is limit your menu to your most popular items. Also include items that will be easier to create. For instance, you can create sandwiches using Kaiser buns. This limited menu will allow you to get more customers through your drive-thru and get more revenue per hour.

Contactless Billing

You can allow people to make their orders quicker by having them use your restaurant’s app. This will allow you and your team to fulfill the order quickly and have it ready for them to pick up. Creating an app is easy and will allow your customers to have fast access to your menu.

More Car-Friendly Lot

You will want to make sure that your establishment can handle the drive-true traffic. Therefore you will want to make sure that your drive-thru can handle vehicles up to 10 or 11 feet in height. You will also want to make sure that you can accommodate at least eight cars onto your property without causing any congestion. You may want to consider a trial run with you and your employee’s vehicles before you launch your drive-thru.

Market Your Drive-Thru Menu

Now it’s time to let your existing and future customers know about your drive-thru only menu. Therefore you will want to contact your existing customers via your e-mail list. Also, you can reach future customers by advertising your drive-thru menu. You can also create flyers that invite people to download your restaurant’s order app. Finally, you can offer a special discount or deal for the first month of your drive-thru’s operation.

A drive-thru can go a long way in boosting your business in a time of social distancing and government-mandated closures of in-restaurant dining. You should create a limited driver-thru only menu, create an ordering app, design an effective drive-thru space for your customers’ vehicles, and market your drive-thru menu. By following these simple steps, you will be well on your way to creating a growing drive-thru business.

As a restaurant owner, you should always be on the lookout for ways to increase your total dining space. Not only do patrons enjoy being able to spread out, but more space also allows you to increase your overall capacity. More people in the restaurant at a time means more profits for you. If you own a cafe, then creating an outdoor patio is one of the best ways to extend your space. Here are four reasons why you should hire builders, buy some patio heaters, and create an outdoor seating area for your cafe.

Increase Capacity During the COVID-19 Pandemic

While vaccines have arrived and the end is in sight, the current pandemic seems like it will continue for another few months, at least. Many states, counties, and municipalities are limiting the capacity for restaurants, especially when it comes to indoor seating. Opening an outdoor patio will allow you to increase capacity while honoring social distancing regulations. It will also invite patrons who prefer not to eat inside for fear of infection.

Attract Patrons Who Prefer to Sit Outside

Even during normal, non-pandemic times, some people simply prefer sitting outside. Perhaps they love fresh air, or maybe they think small, indoor spaces fill unpleasantly with the sound of voices. Whatever their reasons, they’ll be more likely to patronize your cafe once you install outdoor seating.

Use Your Outdoor Space to Attract Customers off the Street

Not only does an outdoor patio improve the customer experience, but it also serves as a giant advertisement for your business. Some passersby might not notice the sign above your door, but the pleasant patio full of happy customers will certainly attract their attention. They’ll also notice the delicious drinks on the tables, inspiring them to come in and check out your menu.

Host Special Events

An outdoor patio will provide an excellent space for small parties and functions. These types of events are often challenging for cafes because they require additional space. While you can’t rent your whole indoor dining area for a party, you can certainly set aside the outdoor space while business-as-usual carries on inside.

Any decent owner is on the constant lookout for ways to improve their business. If your cafe has extra outdoor space, then creating a comfortable patio is a great way to increase space and boost sales. With so much to gain and little to lose, you should start work on your patio today.

These days, more and more people are using the drive-thru instead of eating indoors to minimize contact with other people. This means the drive-thru will be more crowded than ever. It's important to keep things moving. Here are 4 tips on how to improve high traffic drive-thru efficiency.

Utilize Your Fastest Employees

Monitor different employees on the drive-thru. Use metrics to determine who the fastest employees are, and schedule these employees on the drive-thru as often as possible. You should also pick managers who emphasize speed and have the best numbers. These managers have proven that they know how to get things done quickly. Continue training everyone on ways to be faster.

Easy to Read Menus Early in the Drive-Thru

One of the biggest hold ups in the drive-thru is waiting for customers to decide what they want. Make it easy for them by showing them the menu well in advance. Provide multiple menus up to the point where someone orders. This way, they can look at the menu while waiting and be ready to order when it's their turn. No more waiting for the customer to decide what to order once they pull up to the window.

Prep in Advance

You should prepare yourself as well as possible. Anticipate the most common orders and have these items ready to go. For example, you can probably get a second pot of coffee ready during the morning rush since you know many people will be ordering coffee. You don't need to wait for the first pot to be used up. You can also utilize a used stainless steel three-door commercial freezer to keep frozen things on ice till your customers order them.

Minimize Errors

When something goes wrong with a person's order in the drive-thru, it can hold up the line. You should do everything you can to minimize mistakes. First, you should have a clear speaker system so that everyone can hear each other properly. You should also provide a screen for the person in the drive-thru to see the order. After taking an order, have the employee verify the order to the customer. These simple steps can save a lot of time in fixing errors.

People who go through the drive-thru want to get there order and get on with their day as quickly as possible. They are probably on their way to work or school. It's your job to help get them there on time (and with delicious coffee and breakfast). These tips can help you accomplish this.

Running a cafe is a wonderful way to make a living. Not only do you get to spend your days in a relaxing environment surrounded by the enchanting aroma of coffee, but you’re also likely to make a decent profit. Americans love their coffee, and it seems cafes will stay as busy in the next ten years as they have been lately. Even if you’re making some good money, however, you can always expand your food menu to increase your profits. Take these tips into account as you add more food items to your coffee shop’s menu.

Aim for Slow and Steady Growth

If you suddenly unveil an extensive food menu, your customers won’t have time to adjust to the change. You’ll also have to make big investments in equipment and staff, investments that might not pay off. Rather than getting in over your head, try adding a few new menu items here and there. As particular foods prove successful, consider adding similar items that are likely to be a hit.

Abandon Items That Aren’t Selling

Being stubborn is never a good idea in the restaurant industry. Don’t stick with a bad idea just because you were once convinced it would work. Sometimes, things don’t catch on for reasons that remain beyond our comprehension. If a particular menu item isn’t selling despite your best promotional efforts, admit the defeat and move on to something else.

Ask for Customer Feedback

When it comes to gauging the popularity of your new menu items, your customers are always your best resource. Don’t be afraid to ask people what they think after they finish their food. They’ll be happy that you value their opinions, and they might even be more likely to become regular customers. Don’t let a bit of criticism get you down, since everyone has unique tastes. If you notice a pattern, however, you should consider tweaking ingredients or changing a menu item.

Use Technology to Aid in the Development of Your Menu

In this day and age, technology makes running a restaurant a whole lot easier. Consider using customized menu software to create unique offerings for your business, and always post your menu to your website where more people can see it.

By expanding your food options, you can encourage every customer to spend more during their visit. At the end of the year, this could have a major impact on your bottom line.

Could you imagine not entering the coffee shop on your morning commute to work? Coffee shops tend to be a daily routine for those living a busy lifestyle - they are convenient and help with the morning fix to start your day.

However, whilst it can be extremely fitting to enter the coffee shop on your morning commute, there’s the risk that you could be putting on the pounds more when you consider you’re going in there everyday. We can be tempted to order that treat staring at us in the stand window or sweeten our coffee a little more with an extra dose of sugar.

To ensure you don’t follow the trap, here are 5 tips to make your coffee shop order a little healthier.

Consider doughnuts a treat rather than breakfast

Having a doughnut as a treat can be on the odd occasion, but having it as a breakfast can be extremely harmful for your health. Amongst the high sugar content and simple carbohydrates that it contains it can also have you feel droopy and in need for another energy boost shortly after.

There’s also no nutritional benefit to having doughnuts due to the amount of fat and calories that it contains. As a healthier alternative, consider a wholemeal doughnut instead.

Opt for milk

If you’re the type to order the specialty beverages at coffee shops, look to order the ones that contain milk such as a latte or cappuccino. You should also ask for the milk to be skimmed, giving you a good amount of calcium without the saturated fat that they normally contain.

Choose Biscotti for a healthy alternative

Fancy a biscuit to dunk into your coffee to make it feel a little more homely? No problem! We don’t want you to completely get rid of the coffee treats that are available to you. So, opt for Biscotti as your biscuit of choice.

They’re twice baked and offer the perfect dunking option for your coffee. Some well-known coffee shops offer the biscuits which carry just 110 calories and only 5g for fat.

Self-serve your extras

To manage what you’re having and how much you have, order your coffee plain and add in your own extras yourself. This is because many of the speciality drinks at many coffee shops already contain plenty of calories and fats. They also have mixes in them which can contain trans fat ingredients.

To avoid this, order a plain black coffee and add in your own skimmed milk, sugar and sugar substitutes. You can also add some flavour toppings such as cinnamon and ground chocolate.

Get your hands on a bagel

Rather than getting one of the sweeter treats that you tend to see on the bakery shelves opt for a flavoured bagel instead. Or even if you go for plain bagels, it can be a better alternative as you won’t need the added cream cheese or other spreads and toppings.

You have a range to choose from including blueberry, cinnamon and raisin options and you can go better and order a wholemeal, multi-grain or oat-bran bagel.

Final thoughts

Keeping on top of our nutrition and calories has been an obsession in society for many years now as individuals become conscious about their health and nutrition. Many of us may be opting for health supplements to help balance out our diets but the tips above provide an indication of how making little changes in our routines can make a big difference to our health. Incorporate these in your daily routines and see how it benefits you in the long term.
