Opening the Roastery
I have not been idle during my absence from posting on BX. I am currently in Auckland, NZ (City of Sails- not sales!) working on getting a micro-roastery open. In March headed down here to look at a couple of roasting businesses for sale (not sail). Found a very nice place complete with red brick courtyard and fountain in Parnell. We are currently getting the place cleaned up ready to start roasting end of the month.
It is nice to be looking at spending a little more time down here in NZ. The clean, crisp days more than make up for the changeable Auckland weather.
The first shipment of greens arrives tomorrow and we are hoping to work on getting the roaster commissioned by Monday week.

Thanks Troy- give us a few weeks to get everything tweaked. After set-up I will be back 2nd week of July- would be great to meet you then.

Indeed you are correct Troy. Its 251 Parnell Road. Formerly Chiasso, then Boyds coffee. Nice spot to start things rolling in NZ. :))

Hi Alun, That location wasn't formally Chiasso was it? Good luck with the roasting venture, make sure you provide a link once up and running so I can sample your blends. Looking for a little espresso inspiration, think I've tried all the major roasters in NZ, but always pleasantly surprised by what I find coming out of the smaller outfits. The small guys always have a very different approach to blend designs in my experience and I recently had a wonderful Kenyan based shot from an amateur roaster in Cambridge.
