Giotto Espresso Machine Auction with a Cycling Twist

One machine will be auctioned off per week with all proceeds benefiting Coffee Kids.The machines, created by Milan-based Rocket Espresso, celebrate the Giro d’Italia, a 1,521 mile bike race through the Italian countryside. A Month without Coffee...

Well, here it is. My first blog on BaristaExchange.It's been an interesting month for this jobless barista. I quit my barista trainer/ barista job up here in Seattle at Trabant and have had a way tougher time trying to get another job than I initially anticipated. I'm making the assumption that I'm in a pretty awkward place in my life with coffee. I feel as if I'm someone who should be rocking some espresso bar at some cafe, settled in all nice and what not, slingin' spro everyday and calling it good. But nay. It's been over a month now and I haven't worked at a cafe. It's weird to not have coffee on you every moment in so many ways. I even saw my Reg tamper gathering dust on my shelf just yesterday. What?! That's when I knew this had gone on too long. I'd love to just get out there, go to a cafe, and start pumping drinks out. I don't care about the pay. Its not about the lack of money flow, I could even work another job for the money,...I just miss the coffee. It's helped me come to the conclusion that I most definitely have a weird obsessive love for the bean. But don't we all?Viva La Barista.

Cross Country Coffee Adventure

So, I'd like to ride my bicycle all the way from Athens, GA to Seattle, Washington and back stopping along the way at numerous coffee-minded locales.Ideally, I'd find work at some of these places for several days to a week.While there, my hosts and I would exchange bits of our respective wisdom and know how. The goal is to tear down barriers that have been created by geography or overly-capitalist drives and to bring the focus at our businesses back to relationships in our coffee community.Essentially, I'm looking to expand my mind, exhaust my body, and encourage a continent-wide, face-to-face, free exchange of ideas with baristas, shops, roasters and all sorts.Is there anyone out there who might have a spot behind their bar or roaster for me while I make my journey across this great continent?
