So, it begins. I am officially training to ride a bicycle across the country. Is there anyone with any experience in this with a word of advice on how to best go about it?

I'm thinking about long rides. 20 miles per day one week. 25 the next. 30 the next. etc. until I reach about 60. I think if I can work up to 60 miles per day and maintain that pace until August I'll be sufficiently prepared to devote entire days to riding.

Moreover, I'm going to work with the good people at Ben's Bikes in Athens to build a sweet touring ride.

So, that's all I've got. Ideas welcome.

just as a heads up. If you could turn your trip in to a business. buy starting your own independent traveling consulting company you can consult for people along the way. where ever you stop you can offer then your knowledge as a consultant.
I big thing would be going down to your town hall and say that you are starting a business, and you want to apply for a tax ID #. I'm not sure what you can claim involving the bike. You can score yourself some sweet Barista tools. Sorry I tent ramble on and on if this sounds interesting let me know. kind of a crazy idea one great way to start your own business.
